Spencer may not have been our best player so far this season but he has played do a decent level and has played some great passes at certain times. He can get better but already he is our only creative force. And Gary he is also inexperienced, he's only young anyway.

I hate to say it, but I agree with Gary, I think Spencer's not been good the opening three matches and I do think Ryan is capable of a lot more as he proved last season. Might be worth moving him out to right midfield again.

Steer's been our best midfielder by far, not sure about Harris now - seems to wait for the ball to be passed to him rather than go and get it himself. Was good pre-season, but the first three matches by him have not been good.

Be interesting to see Monday's line-up. I'd expect either Deaner or Hodges to replace Miller, but not sure what they will do about the right back position - Adrian Brown, can't play there for me - he's a centre back. If Rav's fit i'd probably play him.

I think in this rare case the praise for deaner is well deserved. I lost count of the times that he won the ball in the air but not only won the ball but played it down to the feet of others around him. I thought steer had an okay game. spencer is a good player or at least better than what he showed this game. hyatt looked a very skillfull player to me with a lot of vision- some of the long balls he tried were beckhamesque!! but fitness and running doesnt look his strong point! wilko is much needed as the tackle count in midfield was non existant- i think back to the days of hakki and wilko when the midfield was never breached and every team we played were forced to attempt the long ball but never succeeded due to daly in the air. THought browne looked v weak at left back and gyroy looked too slow. howard is much needed and where is barras???? gilkes was a good presence i thought and having the guts and thoughtfullness to make a change so early when he realised things were going wrong is very comendable- im not sure if we would have ever seen mr s browne making such changes.

Those around me (and I!!!) thought Gilkes had made a change far too quickly but were wrong! I also thought that Deaner played a great game - he went on to make it difficult for their tall defence and succeeded. His Dad in the stand gave a very loud handclap at one particular challenge and who can begrudge him that after he went our with a job to do and did it? I was more disappointed with Hodges who has so much to give but still needs to deliver. Hopefully, he will.

The defence and midfield are the issue - we need Wilko's and a Hakki to compete (is it too late to get him back?) and a couple of stern defenders - Anthony Howard coming back will help - and stick Adrian B in the middle. Despite his performance yesterday, I still think he is better than he was given credit for last season. Again in the few games I saw him play, I thought Rav deserves a chance.

But we need to not lose the faith and keep going - we can still make it!

Spencer is still class, but he can't do it all on his own, which was the case before Hyatt came on. Moving Spencer to the right helped with the number of crosses for Messrs Deaner (good game Andy-keep it up, just do the simple stuff)and Hodge(s).

In this league we are seeing how uncompromising and organised sides are. Were Ashford worse or better than Marlow, I don't think so, but they out did us for keeping shape and sticking to the task of making it hard to play against them.

Previous posts say it all about speed at the back, bite in midfield, we need a right full/wing back and it looks like Miller or Boot with a big man up front not those 2 together - certainly at 'home' anyway.

New players needed, the squad isn't strong enough.

Generally agree with most comments here. The defence and midfield are a main concern, especially width-wise. Without Howard, the right side looks incredibly weak, and Haddow doesn't look like a left back, given that he gets pulled about way too much, but then the whole defence were guilty of that on occasion. I think we will miss Barrowcliff immensely. The Met Police are getting a great player.

My feeling with Spencer is that on his day, he is superb. However, his "on" days are not that frequent and we shouldn't be looking at him to be running the midfield. Firstly, he is too young and also he's not a hard tackler and I doubt he will change, but he has the potential to change a match. This makes him a luxury/liability depending on your viewpoint. Glen Harris has also not impressed me yet, so the right side really needs to improve. I think Danny Steer could well be the signing of the summer, if we get our defence and midfield to play it on the deck, keep concentration and look to play him in as often as possible.

Upfront, Miller feels too similar to Tony Boot, whom I am sure will fly the nest soon. Hodges - yes, has plenty to offer, he just needs that confidence. Deaner - determination is unquestioned, I doubt the crowd will ever take him 100% seriously, but he unarguably gave us some punch against Ashford.

I think the main thing we can glean from the opening matches is that the passing needs to improve. We need Wilkinson and Howard back, along with some more strength in depth. The question is, can we now afford those better players considering we now seem to be cutting the cloth closer to our budget?

I doubt we will get Hakki anytime soon. He's played in Borehamwood's last couple of League matches. Depends on whether he falls out with Browne and/or whether he's on a contract. He knows he will be welcomed back here by many a supporter.

Anyway, enough rambling. On to Molesey - let's get the bandwagon back on track.
