well slough struggled to a 1-1 draw

most of the game they were playing against 13 players

but their passing was sloppy to say the least

they didnt attack the ball either

lucky to get one point

but i will not put the blame on any conference quality player

because that is 2 bad games so far that i have seen

I agree it was a struggle to get something out of the game today, first half we were dire. However the double subtitution made us look a lot better, as we had two players to challenge the long balls that up til then their central defenders were dealing with with ease. I thought Andy Deaner played very well today and was probably my man of the match. Freddie played well too when he came on and we looked to pass the ball rather than aim long kicks aimlessly downfield. We need some strength down our right hand side especially in defence.

Adrian Brown is no right back, he needs to be played centrally, and I'm beginning to wonder if Gyoury can actually pass the ball along the floor. He's turning into a Tim Cook-esque kick it as high and as far as you can and hope for the best. Our distribution from the back has been very poor in the last two games and I think that's what is letting us down.

Very disappointed again today. We can play so much better, either that or the opening day was a one off and we'll never hit those heights again <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Oh dear

After the four hour round trip on Monday decided instead to go to see Lancing lose 3-0 to Whitehawk in the extra prel. round of the FA Cup in front of about 100 people. Very friendly and mugs for your tea instead of plastic cups and home made sausage rolls for sale - but on this evidence of Sussex County football Slough should have no problem against East Grinstead.

First half was dire. We had no midfield apart from Spencer----quite what Haddows (he might as well been at Aldershot for all the interest he showed), and Phillips did in the first half remains a mystery to me. As long as we have no width, and a one man midfield we will struggle. We should be winning at home(?), and need to change quickly. The last 2 performances have done nothing to encourage fans to return.

I think Wilko needs to return to the side to give the midfield the bite it is so sorely missing at the moment. Ted, who's Phillips? Did you mean Steer?

We should be winning at home, but first and foremost, we need to learn again how to play football. Too many times today, the ball was with the back line and they quite happily lumped it forward to two small strikers. Admittedly, when Deaner and Hodges were brought on it made a big difference aerially and we looked better.

That the above is true is worrying---it means that we discarded the 2 highest scorers from Div 1 (N) last season, in favour of Deaner and Hodges and the long ball, and it worked. Can't help but think that a better solution would be to add some width to the side, and to use the midfield, not cut it out. I thought Spencer played well today, given he had no support whatsoever. Harris, Haddow and Payne just weren't up to it today, and havn't impressed me in other matches.

I hope i'm wrong but Monday night and today showed that I don't think Miller and Boot can play together. They both need a big targetman to play-off.

Yes we were fortunate to get a point. They could have had the game wrapped up by first half. Thought the subs were the right thing to make early on. Croxford and co were winning everything in the air. Adrian Brown was getting caught out (as Gary says a centre-back, not a right back) and Harris had one touch in 30 minutes!

At the back we desperately need some pace - Gyoury got caught out with the strikers pace for the goal.

Still short of three of four players. Wilko's started running though apparnetly and Ant Howards having the pins taken out of his hand in a week or so.

Winstone and Boot worked, so its not a foregone conclusion, but they worked with a midfield that existed. Our current midfield couldn't fight its way out of a paper bag, hence the long balls from defence.

Opinions on todays game

1) Deaner was on drugs

2) Thought Payne did O.K. and Spencer was probably our best midfielder but Harris (until he went off) and Haddow were not good compared to a week ago when they were outstanding.

3) Gilkes (Denton was at a wedding) made a top decision in removing Brown as he couldn't get to grips with the long ball and the two big men did well when they came on.

4) Foster is the best goalkeeper we have had since we were relegated from the Conference.

5) Me and Dom were exceptional in out top chanting from the side in the second half.

Thank you and goodnight.

P.S. Deaner woz MOTM and I think for the first time since he arrived he won more than one header during a match (quite a few in fact)!

We all seem to agree that Deaner had a good match, or was it a case of all the others having a poor match?

Spencer has been our best player so far this season---even though some of his passes go astray, at least he's been involved enough to make passes. Harris, Haddow and Payne have had little impact in any of the games, leaving Spencer to work on his own.

I fail to agree on Spencer having been our best player thus far. I'm struggling to find anyone who has played well in all three matches. Steer, for his work rate and determination rather than his overall performance, has been my pick of what has been a rather poor start after the highs of Epsom. Harris had a good opening game, but has been largely anonymous in the past two after a good pre-season, and what's happened to Haddow? Looked really good on his debut and has gone downhill rapidly since <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Personally, I think Spencer has had a stinking opening three games. I've not seen him take charge of our inexperienced midfield yet, as perhaps I am expecting him to. Definitely lacks bite in there and Wilko will be a welcome addition to that starting eleven when he's fit again.
