Assistant Referee needed!

Southill Alexander's Assistant Referee, Tom Welsh is moving up the Referee's ladder and is now unable to be present at all our games, as he was for us last season.

We therefore urgently need another Assistant Ref so that we can make sure we cover all our games. The commitment would not be every week and the club does of course cover expenses (£20 per game). It doesn't matter if you are not a qualified Referee, as the Bedfordrshire County Football League organizes training for Club Assistants which is delivered in a single evening session.

We are still looking for an Assistant for Saturday's away game against Leighton United (11 September) and so if you are interested, please contact Sally ASAP - the email is sally.fletcher@southillalexanderfc.com.

Thanks for reading.

Was that one of your next proposals for a groundshare for Tik Tok before they booted you out Cliffy? Sounds about your standard.

Reason we were looking was that our full-time Assistant from last season is also a fully qualified ref who has been promoted which is very pleasing for us, a very professional bloke, nice with it. Of course, if you were as helpful as you like to make out and had as many contacts as you always make out you'd maybe be of assistance. But no, trolling is your game not football, no wonder no one likes you.

Folks - You have to give the Southill Alexander publicity officer ten, sorry, eleven out of ten, fair play to him:

Bedfordshire County League Premier Division club Southill Alexander lost 2-0 to Renhold United at the Carlsberg Stadium on Saturday but optimism is still high.

That was confirmed by manager Steve Foster and acting chairman Gordon Parham.

Former Concord Rangers and Canvey Island defender Foster (pictured) gave an honest appraisal of his side`s performance, admitting that Renhold were well worth their victory, mainly due to bossing the first half and going in at the interval 2-0 up after his team had lacked firepower, defended sloppily and basically needed to up their tempo if they wish to achieve a lofty final league position.

However, Foster`s side is still reeeling from losing out on both of last season`s joint leading scorers, Brad O'Donovan and more latterly Jason Lynch, who left last week to join Ridgeons League Premier Division side Newmarket Town.

Booth players made major contributions last time around with fifteen-goals striker Lynch scoring his in eleven games after joining up with the Bedfordshire outfit from Cambridgeshire Leaguers Waterbeach.

Foster added that, without wishing to court any kind of controversy, both he and his membership were not happy with the circumstance that saw Lynch leave the Carlsberg Stadium.

“Obviously we are delighted to see our players progress and climb the non-League Pyramid,” he said. “But with regard to this particular situation the logistics are that we as a club playing at

Step 7 are powerless to stop situations such as this happening.

“We are disappointed, not that it has happened, but by the way it has been handled. If this situation had been dealt with through the proper channels then we would have seen the loss of our top marksmen in a much more favourable light.”

However, Foster was delighted to announce the arrival of Jodie Goddard as the club`s new physio with the brief to work towards FA Charter Standard status.

Foster added: “Jodie is well known on the Beds and Northants non-League circuit and had previously spent time at Potton United and Eynesbury Rovers of the United Counties League and it was a pleasure to see her take her place in the dug-out for the first time on Saturday.”

Acting chairman Gordon Parham made mention of another new initiative in the past fortnight that was proving most popular.

He has been filming home games and an edited highlights edition of all Southill Alexander contests at the Carlsberg Stadium is available for its worldwide membership.

Parham said that a 25 minute package of his club`s weekend action would appear on its club website by in most cases midday on the Sunday, and that this was proving to be massively popular to the enjoyment of its membership, who have given it such positive feedback.
