Erith Town v Slough Town

Some additional information for those travelling to the Erith Stadium this Saturday.

There's a large free car park at the stadium but it's on a first come, first served basis.

Their match programme costs £1.

There are 1,100 seats although all uncovered BUT there is room for around 100 people to stand under cover on a balcony which overlooks the pitch and is by the club bar.

The draw for the 2nd Qualifying Round will be made at 1pm on Monday 13th September 2010.

Credit to erith who played well considering

From our point of view we still have no strikers and even the ones we do have are seemingly taken off for our coaches. I think we need a goalscorer asap or else when our midfield doesn't score like today we are not going to have goals coming from anywhere

That was one of the worst games we have had under Bateman. The attacking lacked any real threat and we had no real options to turn to when we needed a goal.

Apart from the goal I thought that the defence did little wrong, apart from when Murphy and Sweeney had to help cover for am ineffective midfield going forward.

We need someone else - ideally a proven goalscorer - in as cover for the forwards, where were Sippetts and Mendy? We cannot rely on the midfield to score most of our goals because as we saw today they will have off days.

Best mentions go to Logie and our defence. Jacko hardly needed to make a save.

Hopefully we can learn from this in time for Marlow on Tuesday.

Well there was a team that had done their homework. Five men in a line along the defence and another bank of three in front of them. Guess what........our attacking threat (i.e. our midfield) was totally buggered. No problem with losing to a team ranked lower but I thought the attitude of our players today was shocking.

A totally dissapointing performance all round and a lack of spirit that needs to be addessed if we want to challenge for the leauge.

Erith played the game and knew what they wanted and did the job - all credit to them.

This game has highlighted the problem with our attack - we do not need a new striker, we need 3!

The only one of our stike force who is worth keeping is Sean Sonner, as today showed how much we feed the ball through him - the midfield today had no one to play balls to or anyone making any movement to open up the opositions defence.

Gary Sippets is past it and living on repretation - was a good player and you can see he has skills but his legs have gone.

Craig O'Conner can do a job but is not a target man and lacks pace, his temperment is not up to it either.

Simon Martin has had his best couple of games recently but that only brought him up to an average level and today he reverted to type missing untold chances which any half decent forward would have got a hat-trick from - he is one of Steve Batemans favourites, but if he keeps making such fundimental errors and still making the team sheet you would have to question Steve Batemans judgement.

No disrespect to John Lawford, but is he the best forward we can put on the bench - what about the youth team i.e. Tony Mendy?

Only player who had a decent game was Adam Logie who kept on fighting.

The FA Cup is was the main way of getting extra income into the club through prize money and new fans, if I was Steve Easterbrook I would not be impressed with what I saw.

Yet another soft goal! - how many clean sheets this season - none, and this one cost us big time!

An idea (not neccessarily a good one) we get the under 18 goalie on the bench and Jacko in goal with Perks as an attacker. He plays there for sunday league team, he has the right body shape, he has good finishing (when he practices efore and at half time of games) and also he is playing games so he is more likely to stay.

Todays game was about as good as the ground we played in. The finishing was shocking at times. Credit to the Erith they defended well and completely held off our midfeild, didn't let us into the box.

MOTM - Adam Logie

Totally agree with the analysis of the game, however, poorly as we played and shocking as our finishing was (Simon Martin mainly), 9 times out of 10 we would have beaten them. If we hadn't contrived to present their guy with an open goal we'd have got a replay, because they hardly had a shot and didn't look like scoring. I don't remember Jacko having to make a save.

Good luck to Erith and their supporter (a nice bloke who wasn't expecting much more than a hammering), but they probably won't get so lucky again.

MOM - Steve Sinclair, Hon. mention - Adam Logie, Stinker - Simon Martin
