Warlingham v Knaphill

A good entertaining game of Football was played on one of the bumpiest Ryman South grounds you will ever see.Paul Shelley in the Knaphill goal made an excellent point blank save on 5 minutes to deny Warlingham the lead. However Knaphill deservedly took the lead after good work by Scott Bennett down the Right, who's pinpoint cross was powered home by Jack Ball giving Dan Coote in the Warlingham goal no chance.Warlingham got more into the game as the half wore on and equalised after Lee Jansens cross was bundled home by Gareth Graham from close Range.Warligham then had a big shout for a Penalty which was turned down by Referee Steve Earl much to Manager Chris Tuckers disgust, but ball to hand is never a Penalty in Smudges book ,this one the Ref got right,as he did a couple of disputed offsides. There were 5 occassions when Yellow cards could of been issued with no complaint from either Manager, but Mr. Earl went easy easy with just a chat.Breath of fresh air I thought but how wrong I was.The turning point in the game came on 50 minutes, when Paul Shelley brought down Martin Bugden inside the area, there were covering defenders, but Mr Earl brandished the Red,Matt Brunt complained and received a yellow for his protestations, however Justice was served when Bugden blazed high over the bar.Mr Earl now had the flavour and a further 5 Yellows were brandished in the remainder of the match, Surrey F.A. £95 RICHER IN WHAT WAS NOT A DIRTY GAME.Anyway back to the game,Warlingham were now in the Ascendency against 10 men,and took the lead on 70 minutes from a corner,James Cecil ghosting in from a corner to firmly head home giving the stand in Keeper no chance. All was up you would think as far as Knaphill were concerned, but they showed steel and resolve to get back into the game, and fortune favours the brave.A reckless challenge by the Warlingham sub No 15 inside the Penalty Area, when he went straight through the back of a Knaphill player who was going away from goal, was rightly given as a Penalty, but suprise ,suprise no booking. The Penalty was duly put away with aplomb by Ricky Hodgson on 70 mins 2-2.But worse fate was to befall Knaphill, after using there last Substitution,a player suffered a nasty Knee injury and had to leave the field, they now had 9 men, game over you may think but to be honest there only looked like being one winner in the Last 15mins Knaphill.Met Milesy4 and my old mate Brunty, who will be a signed up GOLD Member this week after he gave me his £5 . There were 2 outstanding players on the Park one from each side MATT BRUNT for Knaphill,JAMES CECIL for Warlingham. B.P was his usual cocky self.

Fair report Smudge...Although it was a definte penalty!! Thought 2 big penalty shouts in frist half for Wars aswell. Best player on park in my eyes was Knaphill 9 Jack Ball, a solid performance fron the youngster and definitely one for the future. Thought Referee Steve Earl kept the game in control and only a few silly bookings he got wrong. One of the best ref's I have had this season. Assistant dug out side Ryan O'Sullivan was excellent. Assistant far side.........SHOCKING!!!!

Not Scott Bennetts, ex Met Police/Leatherhead? If so, decent player and should be good at Div 1 level.

Tucks have too disagree with your remarks regards near side Assistant to me,he got every offside decision right in my opinion, and I was nearer than you, from the halfway line things look different. The most frustrating player on the pitch was the Knaphill no 11 Scott Fox,pace and skill to burn, but no end product. When he should of passed he shot or took another man on.
