ANGRY Ash United boss Paul Bonner has blasted what he calls “an obscene offer” which played a part in enticing star James Blason to Badshot Lea.

The attacking midfielder is understood to be nearly doubling his £70-a-week Shawfield Road deal by joining CCL rivals Baggys.

Bonner, under pressure after four heavy defeats, snapped: “It’s an obscene offer. James hasn’t gone for money but it does help. They have a good budget over there and are paying a lot of money not to win the league.”

In a jibe at Lea, who share Godalming Town’s Wey Court facilities, he had this advice: “Maybe they should spend their money on a ground.”

Lea manager Dave Ford hit back: “My answer is that I won’t sit in the Combined Counties for 25 years like Ash – I’ll do something about it.

“He has a point. We haven’t got our own ground but the money is there for that as well. We have pitch consultants advising us and are not far away. We’ll be in our own facilities in 12 to 18 months.

“I wouldn’t be around if I didn’t think there would be anything at the end of it.

“I’ve not done this maliciously but for the benefit of Badshot Lea. I want the best players playing for me and I will keep doing it.”

Ford, who also signed flying winger Aaron Agyeman from Raynes Park Vale, added: “If Ash were a bit more ambitious they would keep people like Blason.”

Having made his debut as a second-half substitute on Saturday, Blason is the latest Ash player to jump ship to the Baggys following left-back Liam Roberts and striker Marcus Cousins. And Bonner is clearly unimpressed: “They’ve nabbed three of my better players over the last six months and it obviously grates a bit.”

The war of words is sure to add spice to the league clash between the clubs at Ash next Tuesday.

Agyeman made his bow as Lea beat Sandhurst Town 3-0 on Bank Holiday Monday, scoring once and setting up another for Brad Smith. Dan Ker had opened the scoring, his first goal for the Baggys who are now unbeaten in five matches.

Meanwhile, Guildford City manager Kevin Rayner was disappointed with a 1-1 draw at Banstead Athletic on Monday, describing it as “a cup hangover”. Joel Greaves earned the point from the penalty spot.

Dorking produced a gritty display but couldn’t stop Chertsey Town winning 1-0 at Alwyns Lane, their fifth straight league win

I can understand Bonzo's frustration it is very dissapointing when your best players are leaving the club, but Fordy is right Ash should have made plans to get out of the CCL a long time ago, for some reason they are being held back and it is the team that is suffering.Nobody can blame Baggy Lea for signing the best players from any team they want to win this league and imo they won't be far away.

RUTHLESS BONZO ! IT'S DOG EAT DOG EVEN AT THIS STANDARD TO BE CHAMPIONS. WORK IT OUT PEOPLE, WHAT DO CHERTSEY, CAMBERLEY. BADSHOT LEA, EPSOM & EWELL AND EGHAM ALL HAVE IN COMMON ? THAT IS WHY THE TOP PLAYERS ARE ENTICED TO PLAY FOR THEM, IT'S ALL RELATIVE IN COMPARISON TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE, THE TOP EARNERS ARE WITH CLUBS AT THE TOP OF THE LEAGUE THAT'S THE WAY FOOTBALL IS GOING THRU' OUT NO MATTER WHAT LEVEL.

SO PLEASE REALISE THAT THE COMMON DEMONINATOR IS MONEY ! BUT DOES MONEY BRING AMBITION MAYBE ? DOES MONEY WIN YOU LEAGUES MAYBE (ASK CHERTSEY) ? DOES MONEY MAKE YOU PLAY BETTER MAYBE ? DOES MONEY MAKE YOU A BETTER TEAM MAYBE ? BUT THESE ALLEDGED ''MONEY CLUBS'' SHOULD REALISE THAT ONLY 1 CLUB CAN BE PROMOTED, SO I AM SURE THAT COME THE TURN OF THE YEAR, WHEN PLACINGS ARE MORE PARAMOUNT YOU WILL SEE THIS ''MONEY'' SOMEWHAT DISAPPEAR SHORTLY FOLLOWED BY PLAYERS. AT THAT TIME, LOADS OF MONEY WILL HAVE BEEN SPENT FOR WHAT ? BUT IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY ONE HAS TO START BEING POSITIVE AND PAY SUCH AMOUNTS TO BE IN THE POSITION TO GET THAT ILLUSTRIOUS SPOT, SO TIME WILL TELL.

SO CHAPS, SHOULD THE REAL CREDIT GO TO CLUBS WHO RETAIN THEIR BEST PLAYERS ON A SMALL IF NOTHING BUDGET... NOW THAT'S GOOD MANAGEMENT ? THE LIKES OF SANDHURST, CHESSINGTON & HOOK, COLLIERS WOOD, MOLE VALLEY (I SUSPECT), MOLESEY TO NAME A FEW. DO YOU THINK THAT THESE TEAMS ARE ''MORE UP FOR IT'' WHEN THEY PLAY THE ALLEDGED ''MONEY TEAMS'' TO PROVE A POINT ? OR ARE THE ''MONEY TEAMS'' SIMPLY TOO GOOD ?

YOU MAKE YOUR MIND UP !

Agree with you Nice Guy, with regards the Maybe's and the If's.

Its key to get the right players for this league, and most importantly players playing for the club for the right reasons. This is something Chertsey has struggled with over the past two seasons, i can honestly say though, i look at our team now and on the pitch they look like a team and in the clubhouse they look like a team. So hopefully we have players that want to pay for the club for the right reasons.

We all have bills to pay and i don't have an issue with any player for attemping to help themsleves pay them, if clubs are willing to pay them good expenses for playing football.

One thing i would note is that, as a supporter of the club, Spencer has never yet slashed his budget half way through a season, or when placings become more paramount, something i commend him for.

Duncs, why didn't Ash get promoted back in 98/99 when Jamie Horton's side won the League by 13 points?

Agree Krooner, would put C & H and Molesey in the same bracket as Camberley and Epsom with Egham, Badshot Lea and Chertsey above them.

Also agree with Nice Guy that the good managers ae those that can keep players with little budget and keep getting results. The guy at Sandhurst stands out for me.

Personally can't see how you can justify paying someone at this level 70 let alone double that, but can't blame the player for accepting it.

Haven't got a problem with clubs offering players more money thats football, and if we were all honest we would love to have a big budget. The problem I have in the case of Aaron Agyeman, at RPV, is a member of the Badshot Lea's coaching staff approaching him in our clubhouse after our game against Bookham, and ringing the player later that week before they put the 7 dayer in. The better way to do things, if they wanted to speak with the player was to telephone the RPV manager, asking if him could talk to the player without a 7 dayer, which I've had done to me, and have also done the same myself.

If what they offered him is true it would be a slap in the face to the other players, however thats their affaire. We at RPV know we cant complete with most of the CCL clubs with money, and we accept that, but it did insult us, because they have a bit of cash, they think they can break the rules. Maybe with some of the cash they could purchase a rule book. Its all about respect which they have none.

COMMON BUT A SORE SUBJECT WITH ME, BUT NOT IGNORANT TO KNOW IT GOES ON ALL THE TIME EVEN IN THE PREMIER.

SO WHAT IT IS WITH THESE SO CALLED CCL ''MONEY CLUBS'' ! BADSHOT LEA HAVE BEEN ''ACCUSED'' OF ALLEDGED TAPPING UP PLAYERS IN THE PAST AND TO DO THE ''APPARENT'' TAP-UP OF THE RPV PLAYER IN THE HOME SIDES CLUBHOUSE IS NOT ONLY ILLEGAL BUT A COMPLETE INSULT !

DOBO SNR MY SUGGESTION WOULD BE TO REPORT THIS ''ALLEDGED'' TAP-UP TO THE CCL WHERE THEY MUST TRY AND DO SOMETHING TO STOP ALL THIS...............DEDUCT POINTS, DON'T FINE THEM THAT HURTS MORE !!!

B. LEA CLEARLY HAVE NO MORALS NOR RESPECT - ARE THEY REALLY ''THAT'' DESPARATE TO WIN THE LEAGUE BY TAPPING UP EVERY PLAYER THAT PLAYS WELL AGAINST THEM, WHICH I ASSUME AGYEMAN MUST HAVE, HENCE THE TAP UP !!! BUT THEN ON THE OTHER HAND, THEY MUST HAVE THE MONEY TO ATTRACT THE PLAYERS AWAY WHICH IS FINE BUT DONE IN THE CORRECT MANNER AND BY THE RULES.

I READ ON A PREVIOUS MANAGER50 THREAD ABOUT ANOTHER ''MONEY TEAM'' CHERTSEY ALLEDGEDLY TAPPING UP A MOLESEY PLAYER (BAXTER)WHO WAS SIGNED ON FOR THEM AND HAD THE AUDACITY OF EVEN PLAYING HIM IN ONE OF THEIR FREINDLIES ! MANAGER50, WHATS THE OUTCOME OF THAT WITH THE CCL/FA ? WHY SHOULD THESE TYPES OF CLUBS GET AWAY WITH IT ?

WHEN ARE THE CCL EVER GOING TO PUNISH THESE ''MONEY CLUBS'' (THEY MUST BE ABLE TO AFFORD THE FINE, BETTER STILL DEDUCT POINTS THAT HURTS MORE) THEN PERHAPS ALL THIS TAPPING UP MAY REDUCE, 'COS I KNOW LIKE EVERYONE ELSE THE CCL WON'T BE ABLE TO STOP IT, BUT WITH B. LEA DOING IT SO OBVIOUSLY IS DISRESPECTFUL TO RPV........ IT'S TAKING THE P*SS AT THE CLUBS WHO CANNOT FIGHT AGAINST THEM 'COS THEY DON'T HAVETHE MONEY, BUT THEN VULTURES ARE ALWAYS FLYING !

RANT OVER !

Problem is NHice Guy you need proof and the only way you will get that is from the player who seriously is not going to say they did.

All we really wish to see is people having a little respect for other clubs. It really doesnt hurt to ring a manager and ask if you can approach their player, If he is not on contract they cannot refuse but it is manners.

Ive been thinking about it all weekend what fordy has said & just can't get my head around the lack of ambition. We have as much ambition as everyone else in the league, but like most of you know running your own club is very expensive & if we could afford to give the manger more to spend we would, but first off all the clubs structure & ground has to be upto league requirement which isnt cheap.

Also badshot lea in their own ground in 12/18mths time.....well we will see wont we

going back to when Jamie's side won the league, we as a club just wasn't in any position ground or money to go up

:wall:

Nice Guy - Before people start rants on the basis of what other people have said or written, with regards to the alleged tapping up of Aaron Agyeman at RPV in their clubhouse - The story is not exactly how Dobo snr recollects although im not sure if that's what he was told by other members of the RPV team. Without going in to it as there really is no need - B.Lea actually spoke to friends and family members of the player at the RPV home game (members of family who play for another CCL Prem team) completely by chance without knowing they were linked to the player as they are not mind readers!!!!

The seven day approach was put in after there after.

As far as the situation with Mr Blason from Ash - im sure that the above goes to show you shouldnt beleieve all you read that is written and i find it really sour that the Manager from Ash feels fit to be putting out the details of what he was paying James Blason - surely this is confidential information between club and player!

I understand clubs are not going to be happy to lose their better players and therefore might have a bone to pick with the B.Lea and Chertseys amongst others but this my friends is football!:futbolbud2:

should be a good atmosphere at Ash tomorrow night,i've got a feeling there could be quite e large crowd lets just hope we get decent officials as it could be quite a tasty affair.

Dead right Duncs - 6-0 to B/Lea last season then 4-1 to Ash in the reverse fixture - promises lots of goals (cue 0-0 bore draw)
