Naughty tackle doesn't describe it.

Worst tackle i have ever seen, bar none. It was like a malicious martin taylor tackle.

Came in, two footed over the ball right in the legs. As well, before this he had jumped into one of our players causing stud marks through shin pads. He was already on a yellow card. As well as this he had the cheek with the player (Matty West) writhing on the floor to feign injury, until he realised what he had done.

The tackle led to a 40 minute wait for an ambulance, people directly there said that the bone had broken the skin and there was a lot of blood. His screams could be heard from the other side of the stadium when he was being moved. He was in good spirits, cracking jokes.

His first start of the season as well.

Unfortunately BlueMan has described events perfectly, it was an utterly horrendous tackle, the worst i have seen in any standard of football.

We left our two 17 year olds out of the starting line up fearing a physical encounter and how prophetic was that. Both our central midfielders out of the game after 18 minutes so the aggressive intent was there for all to see. Would personally like to see some space before this game replayed but fear that might not happen due to league rules. Thanks to BGU and Enfield for there messages of concern after the game and for the supportive comments in general on forum- where possible i will pass on to player. A sad night for football i'm afraid.

I will add this to what has already been said and then leave it there. I don't like to blame someone who injures another player in the tackle - but on this occasion I will make an exception. I won't name the individual but what I will say is that the tackle was a disgrace and there is no place for that in the game. The poor lad, Matty West, was in a real mess as were the other players who were in obvious distress. The problem at this level of football is that this player has a day job he will not now be able to attend and will not be privilidged enough to have access to a top surgeon or physiotherapist to rebuild his leg. When Eduardo had his leg severely broken he was fortunate in that he had the very best treatement and around the clock care. Players should consider that before they make a challenge like the Eton Manor player made. I feel sick to the stomach this morning and my thoughts go out to Matty who I cannot imagine how he is feeling at this moment in time.

What action, if any, would be taken against the offender in this circumstance?

He should be named and shamed.

If the tackle was exactly as described, then it was clearly deliberate, if I was a player taking the field against this thug then I would want to know who he is.

Sorry to see this happen to a young player . Lets hope Matt has a speedy recovery , The gentleman that did the tackle probably feel pretty lousy himself this morning on reflection on what he did . He has to live with this for months to come . :icon15:

Can only echo what has been said with regards to the tackle, it was extremely unpleasant, a two footed lunge and thoughts go out to Westy. The two most ridiculous things in the whole episode were that the referee only punished the tackle with a second yellow card, it was the most blatent straight red you could ever wish to see and the fact that the ambulance took a full 50 minutes to arrive. That really is a disgrace - when Eduardo was injured it was stated afterwards that only the immediate medical care saved his leg! He'd have been screwed in the ESL then!!

Im sure everyone would appreciate any update on Matt's condition when one becomes available. I think it is worth pointing out where Flip Flop says that the "intent was there" that it was only one player from Eton Manor as opposed to the whole team as has already been mentioned he'd committed one bad foul already by that point which led to a yellow card, other than that it had been an absorbing first 15 minutes or so. But again to echo what has been said - a very sad evening all round.

That is true my comments were not aimed at Eton Manor players or team as a whole aside from there seemed to be a bit of a game plan to bully us and maybe that went over the top, admittedly only one player was involved so all conclusions are a bit emotive. To clarify the challenge was given as a straight red, the referee admitted he got a bit confused with everything going on and accidently showed the second yellow,at least that was his explanation. to me after the game. To be fair to the Ref I thought he handled a difficult situation fairly well.

Yea, that is fair enough from the ref's viewpoint, I can understand the confusion in the circumstances. There seemed to be a few mixed messages around whether the game was going to restart though I think Eton Manor even warmed up on the near side again at one point, although as the ambulance took so long it probably meant that the ref was in an even more complicated position.
