Thoughts on Wealdstone game

Recommended Posts

Looked a bit dodgy in the first half. Not having Elliot and Jamie made a difference although I think Ricky Hales did alright in the centre half position. Second half was better, I thought we finished stronger than them - I think we were good value for the points overall. Tommy Black did well again. Good performances from the rest of the guys. Take a scrappy three points after the disappointment of losing out on Saturday

tis, my first league game of the season.

First half we had some opportunities but are midfield was non exsistant and kept dropping deep, although Wealdstone dominate the centre they had little to show for it. 0-0 was a fair HT. The ref was very one sided and I was sad to see such a pointless booking. The goal was one of those defensive mix ups and i must say or new keeper ollie, certainly does dominate and have prescence in the area. Jamie Richards came off to be replaced by Tam, who I think made all of the difference and produced the runs down the right which opened up Wealdstone causing a lot of problems. The penalty was from one of those moves down the right, that resulted in a corner the ball crossed into the box where Ronnie and the defender went for the ball and the Ref awarded the penalty. Safely tucked away by Tommy Black, who in all honesty had a very good game. The chins were now in full flow which awoke Jo Flack who had his best period in the second half. The continued period of pressure led to a fine cross into the box and the ball was nodded home for the second. A gritty performance overal not the best football I have seen at the bridge but the three points are important.

Happy with the points, wealdstone started better and looked the better team for half hour,we were the better side for the last 15 minutes of the first period. The pattern was repeated after the break,we struggled a bit to keep hold of the ball for a while but didnt lack effort.

Their goal was down to the swirling wind which made it hard for the keeper who i thought played well

Once we got the penalty there was only one winner and i thought we played really well after that

A few of their fans were moaning as usual about our running track around the ground, fck off,its non league football and our own ground, they play at ruislip, which the last time i checked is a good few miles from wealdstone,so be thankful for what you have

We gotta be Hornchurch Germany.

Or the Hornchurch Oakland Raiders.

Who gives a toss how we play.

JUST WIN BABY

AND WE WON.

Not sure why our keeper was getting sloagged off during the game considering he cut out a few good crosses.

2nd half was much better as we cut out the long ball over the top tactics.

Midfield need to support the front 2 a bit quicker.

I thought Ricky Hayles played very well and saw our best player.

Tbh one of the reasons I get fed up with standing on the eastside of late is because of comments about our own players, hurled at them while they are playing. How the fck are they going to give there all when they are getting abused by their own fans.I done this at Harlow 4 years ago and regretted it once I knew the impact it had on the players game and that player since coming back to the club has been one of our better players.

I can understand people having opinions about players on forums and like myself slating them on here when you feel they don't give their all but knocking them while they are playing is fckng ridiculous.I had 5 mins on the eastside yesterday and twice had to tell someone to shut up as they were coming out with total [censored] about our own players,so off I trudge to hasbeen hill where I can watch the game without silly comments coming from people who seem to get their comments from football training or sky sports

first half was like lowestoft mk2...second half was better but still didnt see the flowing passing football that we saw in the preseason games vs west ham and colchester....i guess thats to do with dormer not playing as alot of the momentum goes through him. Hayles played well as did Tommy Black (quality signing)...Tam looked threatening too once he came on. When we play to our strengths (on the floor passing..using spencer/black/tam on the flanks we look great but the long ball up to flack/touhy is all to predictable as these 2 are never going to win headers vs 6ft+ centrehalves. I'm not to sure of the slagging off our the new keeper...I must admit Ifor one felt nervous everytime a cross/shot came in and he didnt leave me with too much confidence (perhaps we are spoiled by being used to Bechet??) but aslong as he gives 100% he gets my vote.

Anyway well done lads on a win against a strong wealdstone team....keep it going lads applaus.gif

I think the overwhelming majority on the Eastside would never throw abuse their own players. We're talking about a few people only. I think most people including myself may make the odd comment to the person next to him/her, but certainly not deliberately in the earshot of the players (unless it's opposing ones of course!). We just need people to realise that encouraging the players is the best way to help them play better.

on the other side of the coin people pay their money and entitled to their opinion i personally would'nt do it i tend to shake my head look to the heavens or shut my eyes and wonder wot i've got for dinner that evening, also fair bit of arguing amongst our players yesterday, deffo not good but i think people just care about having a good team to watch but sometimes gets a bit frustrating, all the above is just my opinion

Of course people are entitled to their own opinion, but at times it stretches to taking the p1ss out of the players, why should any player who plays for a club have to put up with that from his own fans.

Yesterday someone was shouting to a player to close one of the wealdstone players down,he didnt and got an earful from the young fan, only problem was,he had no chance of winning the ball so held back, had he gone to the ball the full back would of knocked it past our player and they would of had a dangerous attack.

In all honesty,if you don't understand the basics of the game, don't shout abuse out at players just because you hear some 30 stone manager on a sunday morning doing the same!!

dont think it's loud enuff for players to hear, unlike wayne rooney ,could'nt score in a brothel, moaning and swearing it's just part of the game and sure it goes on every ground at players opposing fans, managers etc
