RESULTS: BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY.

Croydon 0 - Horley 2 - Referee -10

At a chilly but sunny Arena today a poor Croydon side were beaten 0-2 by a somewhat unimpressive Horley side. The most infuriating points of the day were the referees ability to put aside person differences with a player and deny a penalty to Croydon. The linesmen were average (make of that what you will) but one appeared to be still on the beach on his summer holiday as he was more than once behind the play.

The first goal was in the 7th minute and the second in the 32nd.

The main talking point came in the first half a ball was past the Horley defence and the keeper rushed out, The Croydon player took the ball away and the keepers hand made contact, bringing down the forward. Less than five minutes previously the ref and Croydon player had a disagreement, hence the refs decision not to give a CLEAR penalty. Even a member of the Horley bench agreed that it should have been a penalty and raised the point that the ref and forward had been is disagreement.

Being totally honest about the game it was more a 0-0 that a 0-2 and Croydon were lucky to get 0 at times and even fell to the old problem of arguing between themselves. Horley kept their heads (apart from one Horley player that appeared to want to cause a few Bank Holiday Bruises!)

All in all it was a poor game, poor refereeing and somewhat lacklustre in play.

Croydon are beginning the season with many injuries as they ended last season. out of the four on the bench 2 were injured, and there were at least three other players absent with injuries.

In the words of the song ... The only way is up, but some changes need to be made; attitude and confidence need to be worked on.

Lensmeister are you singing from DIXON GILLS hymn sheet what game were you watching,Managers decision to keep 2 Strikers on bench as punishment for Saturdays loss, because if you Question the Status Quo, your out the door,or put Right Back.People in this game of Football know me as an honest man,3 Captains in 3 Games ,means Dixon Gill is not the Man I thought he was,Sunday Footballers mean relegation and unfortunately he has too many.I resign from Croydon F.C. a s a supporter bull sh*tter I am not.

Completely agree Foxyhills.

For those of you who mocked me for saying we need defenders 2 weeks ago. Today and at Chessington proved my point.

Awful defending at times, dreadful.

Please Steve, do the right thing, either get us some defenders or walk away!

1. Yes, our defending was crap today.

2. So what use would Baker walking away do? We can attack, and score goals, we just can't defend, so I have to agree with you on that front.

3. Have you identified yourself yet, or are you still another nameless [****!!****] without the balls to face Mr Baker? At least he and the team can read about what I feel about their performances though my match reports. Today we were crap. If we play that way on Saturday we will lose. However, I still feel that this team, under this manager can do a lot better.

Hi Smudge,

do you mind me asking your views on the game,

I thought Horley totally deserved the win and played good football on occasions and probably should of won by more.

I hear Hartley Wintney got beat 4-0 by Whitehawk. Unlucky HW. If you'd only held on for another minute on Saturday but i'm sure you know that. You did the CCL1 proud.

Ta JJ HT was 0-0 today then they spanked us

When the video on the FA site is up and running from Sat, check out both our goals..both worthy of winning the cup!

Why would he walk away?? Is it not the same back 4 from last season? Or is he still playing a back 3? The 2 toms are quality not sure about noady's chat but still a good player!

The lad on loan from ngu playing on left looked good.

U have a new keeper in and he needs to gel with the back 3 or 4.this is the same side that Finnished so strongly last year!!

Sandhurst 3-1 Hanworth VIlla

Badshot Lea 3-0 Sandhurst

An up and down weekend and 3 points is probably what we deserved out of the two games. Conceded a penalty after 35 seconds on Saturday and took us 20 minutes to setlle but thought we created the better chances and deserved the 3 points against a HV side who have improved this season and will upset some good teams, as we saw yesterday.

Yesterday we came up against a very strong BL side and were 2nd best on the day and suffered our first league defeat of the season. We had a great chance at 0-0 on the stroke of half time and failed to take it which could have made a difference and then we conceded a goal on the break right after half-time which swung the game in the favour and they never looked back from then to be fair and deservedly beat us. I can definitely see Baddy Lea in the top 3 this season.

Once again thanks for your support sarnie. Didnt see you on here after the Wembley and Ash wins. (shock!)

For what is worth i have spent the last 2 weeks trying to sign a right back and centre half but these things dont always happen straight away.

Until that happens i have to work with the current personel.

For whatever the reason we have not been strong enough defensivley and this is something i have to resolve.

As for your comments please walk away ! Ive got more [censored] than that. Also be careful what you wish for as this side was

in a terrible state before i took over.

In the meantime feel free to come down to training to put a session on as you seem to have a real knowledge of the game !

Oh you wouldn't do that as we would all know who you are then !

Cant disagree with that Fergie. I am more frustated than anyone else with our up and down form and i am doing everything within my power to get that right.

We worked very hard in training last week on defending and Saturday against a very weakend Ash side we looked a lot stronger defensively wich resulted in a clean sheet.

This gave me confidence going into yesterday's game against Villa. Thought we looke quite strong in the first 20 minutes and after scoring missed a couple of real good opportunities to

take a further lead. However as the half went on Villa looked the stronger side and should have lead at the break.

Second half we were crap ! Did not keep possesion, did not work hard enough, showed no desire and our defending was appalling.

Hanworth were deserved winners and could have won by more. I wish sometimes supporters could hear what was said in the changing room and then certain individuals would realise how much it means to managers.

Just to keep the real supporters in the loop i am currently trying to sign 3 players. (2 defenders and a midfileder/wide player) Also back for Saturday is the return of Luke Muldowney and Aidy Barrance.

Karle Andrews is away for 2 weeks and Tom Martin is available for next weeks game at Raynes Park.

I am very confident with a couple of additions and hard work i will get things right and get us back up the table were we should be.

Steve everybody who goes to a match can have his/her opinion its what makes our game so great,I'm sure you are doing a good job at Egham, you seem to have most of the people supporting you which is good, when you played at Cove at the end of the season you were the best team in this league (at that time) have confidence in your ability and concentrate on what you are doing, we all get knocked from time to time it goes with the territory
