Chertsey 1.0 dorking

Certainly a game of two halves, Chertsey could have been 6 or 7 goals to the good at half time after a blistering first half display but only managed 1 after a good move which led to a wonderful through ball from Marcus moody was finished across the keeper by Dean papali. In the second half Chertsey couldn't really get going with a lot of stray passes and loss of easy possession given away. With the score at 1.0 dorking really gave it a good go with some good team play and passing but couldn't really break down the tight Chertsey defence with Craig Bradshaw in te Chertsey goal only having to make a couple of smart stops. Overall a deserved win for Chertsey but the scoreline could have been a lot healthier had they taken a host of first half opportunities.

Croydon 0 - Horley 2 - Referee -10

At a chilly but sunny Arena today a poor Croydon side were beaten 0-2 by a somewhat unimpressive Horley side. The most infuriating points of the day were the referees ability to put aside person differences with a player and deny a penalty to Croydon. The linesmen were average (make of that what you will) but one appeared to be still on the beach on his summer holiday as he was more than once behind the play.

The first goal was in the 7th minute and the second in the 32nd.

The main talking point came in the first half a ball was past the Horley defence and the keeper rushed out, The Croydon player took the ball away and the keepers hand made contact, bringing down the forward. Less than five minutes previously the ref and Croydon player had a disagreement, hence the refs decision not to give a CLEAR penalty. Even a member of the Horley bench agreed that it should have been a penalty and raised the point that the ref and forward had been is disagreement.

Being totally honest about the game it was more a 0-0 that a 0-2 and Croydon were lucky to get 0 at times and even fell to the old problem of arguing between themselves. Horley kept their heads (apart from one Horley player that appeared to want to cause a few Bank Holiday Bruises!)

All in all it was a poor game, poor refereeing and somewhat lacklustre in play.

Croydon are beginning the season with many injuries as they ended last season. out of the four on the bench 2 were injured, and there were at least three other players absent with injuries.

In the words of the song ... The only way is up, but some changes need to be made; attitude and confidence need to be worked on.

Camberley 4-1 Cove

Fairly routine win for Cambo. First 2 goals were almost identical free kicks from distance, from Blount I think. Cove got one back just before half time, Cambo went 4 up soon into the 2nd half.

Now at Kingsmeadow waiting for Wimbledon v Newport!

Cam 4 -1 Cove

Scoreline flatters Camberley. Scored 2 direct free kicks in the 1st half. Also scored from a corner as did cove. 3-1 at half time.

Camberley's other goal was from a corner too. You can guess what Cove need to work on!!

2nd half was all Cove trying to push for a way back in to the game. Had most of the possession but couldnt break Cam down. Fozzy in the goal only had a few saves 2nd half to make.

Overall, pleased with our possession, pleased with our performance. Injuries took their toll today with only 2 subs available and Mcgarry and Duff both playing with minor injuries.

Cam will be pleased to get back to winning ways after their hammering Saturday!

Westfield 0 - 2 Staines Lammas

Two good goals for Staines in the first half. Westfield much better in the second half and should have at least got a draw. They hit the post and had an effort cleared off the line. Decent set up at Westfield, good little clubhouse and everyone was friendly.

Hi Lens,

Seems like all you have done on your description is moan and complain about everything,

To be honest I thought Horley played some good football in the first half and probably should of been 4 or 5 ahead, as for the penalty appeal I was the closest person to the incident(work that one out) and the keeper got a good hand to the ball before taking the player so if that all you gonna moan about I think it will be a very long season for you.

As for lack of players for you, we had 3 reserve team players and a 16 year old from the youth team( who played for 85 mins)

How people see the game so different.

Molesey 3-1 Mole Valley SCR

Hard to find words to describe our performance, abject, awful, abysmal spring to mind and many more further up the alphabet.

Started ok, and had a couple of chances in the opening few minutes which came to nothing, but then Molesey took over and completely bossed the first half. Only a couple of missed chances, and two great saves from our keeper kept it at 0-0 at the break.

Second half we improved, and took the lead through Jay Holden on the hour mark, and probably should have increased it when Pagey missed when one on one with the keeper. Holden was also denied a second by a really good save by the Moles keeper low to his right.

Last 15 minutes was the Ackerman show (and to be honest he looked a class act all game, constantly caused us problems), Equaliser was a fantastic overhead kick, then we gifted him his second late on, with a sloppy back pass, and hurried clearance by our keeper. Wrapped it up with a well judged lob with virtually the last kick.

We have made a good start to the league, but got what we well and truly deserved today.

Hoping for an improved performance on Friday, in the Vase
