Common Courtesy

Recommended Posts

You would think clubs would look after each other especially in these ecomonic times. On Tuesday two of our coaching staff were put on the guest list at Merstham by a senior member of the playing management as they were playing our FA Cup opponents Chatham in the League. When they arrived they were greated but a very rude and colourful language gateman stating their tickets were cancelled by the Chairman 'as we are not giving anything to Chertsey for free'.

It is common courtesy for clubs to give tickets to other when requested in advance and we have never known this with the only exception being the FA competitions where everyone pays.

To my knowledge we have never had any issue with Merstham and I get on very well with their playing management and exchange information with them on regular occasions and are grateful for the report on our next opponents. All the very best to Graeme and Tides in particular, both top guys. You may need it with a Chairman that so desperately needs sixteen pounds and clearly believes he is above being decent.....

I can see where you are coming from CT but I bet that gateman like so many others in this league are fed up to the back teeth with people trying to get in for nothing,I agree with you that your club had a legitimate reason to be at the game, but at the end of the day its Mersthams income that is important to them, also when you come on this forum and tell us all what you are handing out to the players at your club is £16 gonna affect your club in any way.

Bit of a difficult one this i'm afraid mate as Merstham are not used to leaving tickets on the door, generally creates a 'if we do it for one, everyone will want one' scenario. Mind you it's mainly vetoed for players rather than visiting teams officials.

Just to clarify I very much doubt it would be Chairman Ted that stopped it, he's a brilliant guy and got time for anyone.

I'll PM you...

It's not about the money Duncs it's about what's right and happens. If a senior member of another clubs management puts us on a list it's not on to get abused like that. We had a chief Scout of Liverpool request tickets last season, it is the way it is, it's not about income it's clubs working together as they have always done and should continue to do.

hmm maybe it is about income CT and you are missing the point, why were Liverpool at your club anyway? these fans will try anything to get in for nothing. The gateman at Cove ( Keith ) is brilliant he will actually chase after people and make them coff up.Frimley Green have the biggest problem, because you can get a better view for nothing (standing on the hill ) than you can in the ground,I have always paid my way as I like to support the clubs as i know what a battle it is for most clubs to pay thier way in this league
