HITCHIN will be aiming to complete a hat-trick of victories at Clarence Park when they travel to St.Albans next Saturday.

 

The Canaries recorded a 1-0 win at the home of their county rivals last season, the only goal scored by the now departed Tony Fontenelle. The previous season, Robbie O'Keefe's side won 2-1 in the final league game of the campaign. Hitchin's previous league wins at St.Albans dated back to the mid-1980s.

 

Assistant Manager Kerry Dixon wants to see Hitchin's players raise their game for what will be their biggest test so far. "I know we've beaten St.Albans already, but that game will have no bearing on the meeting at Clarence Park, he said. "But there's no reason why we can't go there and win, we've done it before." St.Albans fielded a below strength side against Hitchin in the Herts Charity Cup, a game that was settled by a Chris Dillon goal.

 

St.Albans have been busy rearming themselves for the new season. Manager Steve Cook has signed former Croydon striker Nic McDonnell and Maidenhead midfielder Matt Glynn, both proven quality players. Former Hitchin goalkeeper Richard Wilmot, who saved a penalty in the Herts Charity Cup tie, may feature in the game.

 

Also looks at though Adam Parker may be out with a back injury, which would be good news for us.
