K's 4-2 Blues

Overall Kingstonian deserved the win but gutted not to have taken a point. Done well to pull it back from 2 down after gifting the opposition a brace and thought the momentum may have turned our way. But after our equaliser K's hit the bar and post and Ashlee Jones pulled off two superb saves. Ryan O'Rawe missed a great chance but two controversial penalties in the last 7 minutes undone us. We looked vulnerable at set-pieces and our passing/first touch was sloppy on occasions. But when we concentrated we looked the better side and always remained a threat. As for the referee, others will probably have their say on that! A good entertaining game, but we've a few issues that need sorting sharpish. Onwards to Croydon!

A very entertaining game and well worth the crappy journey over the Bridge.

Agree with Ryan that K's just about shaded it. The K's 11 did really well to win the the first penalty and left the ref with little option other than to give it. The 2nd penalty was a joke and just about summed up the refs overall performance.

Yes, Craig and the boys have a few things to work on during training, but I can honestly say that I've been more entertained in the last 2 games than I was during the whole of last season.

A very entertaining and exciting game, It was a shame we conceeded so late as a point would have been a good result.

Fantastic half volly form the left boot of DC for our first, and a well deserved goal for Leon who worked his socks off .....Unlike Danny who cut his off.

Some cracking saves from Ashlee as well

What did you think of the kit?

I agree with the two posts above, it was a very entertaining game and i don't believe that anyone could have left feeling they didn't get their money's worth.

It's very difficult to charity a decent team like the Ks two goals and come back from it but we did actually manage to achieve that. I agree the Ks will probably say they had enough chances to deserve the win but it was still a bit of a choker to go down the way we did.

The ref suffered from short man syndrome and it was clear from an early stage that he was desperate to have a major impact on the game. As Ryan said if O'Rawe had squeezed that home with his first kick I think we may have nicked the win. The first pen was marginal - i don't blame their bloke, he ran into Wild and fell over and the ref (Mr H Homer from Homerville) couldn't wait to blow his whistle. The second pen was absolutely comical, thankfully it didn't really matter. As for the sending off, again i felt the ref reacted to their bench all going up etc etc and again gave himself no thinking time. Had the tackle been somewhere else on the pitch, Cedric might have got away with a yellow especially as it wasn't a particularly nasty game.

We have shown that we are good enough to be competitive against decent teams so now it's just a case of trying to stop the individual erros and losses of concentration that cost us three of the four goals.

Still hopeful, enjoyed the game.

Come on you Blues!!

What did you think of the kit?

Far too tottingham for my liking.

Were the white shirts put in the wash with the blue ones??

Could have been a good game last night. 2 teams with obvious talent and both willing to mix it up.

Unfortunately the ref decided that his whistle needed to be heard every couple of seconds so that we all knew he was there.

I don't agree with the "homer" comment - he was merely incompetent.

We were also given our fair share of laughable and bewildering decisions - disallowing their perfectly good goal for one.

Credit for coming back from 2 down - work rate was great and the heads never went down.

I missed Saturday, but there was enough there last night to start believing that the last 2 seasons are distant memories.

MoM for me was Colliss - great goal summed up his evening

Yep, can't fault the entertainment, but obviously disappointing to get ourselves back in it, and then go down to 2 penalties. Not that we should have gone behind, as we were bossing it until their first goal.

I can't see Collis's goal being beaten for goal of the season this year.

I'm encouraged by the style of play so far, looks like we should be scoring a lot more goals.

And yeah, I thought the kit was a bit Spuds-like too :-)

:)Hope you don't mind my poking my nose in; enjoyed the game last night as a neutral (and checking out the opposition of course); I reckon your assessments above are generally spot on as I thought that K's probably edged it on the 90 mins but 4-2 was a bit flattering for them. Seemed to me that both sides suffered with giving the ball away too often, too cheaply. When you pulled it back to 2-2 I fancied you to go onto win but either you sat back on it or they stepped up as the best chances fell to K's.

On the penalties, its a funny thing what you see as I thought the first was very doubtful with their forward looking for it and the referee making the decision from at least 40 yards away; the 2nd I thought was a definite penalty to me but then again I was over 50 yards away so who knows.

As for the ref; well being a genuine neutral he did his best to spoil an otherwise entertaining game and made some rediculous decisions for both sides; I'm not sure I saw him as a homer as I just thought he was bad but I could see how you felt like that.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing you on Saturday at Croydon which I hope will be another good game (with us winning of course :) )

Well,we all seem agreed on that one. I just wonder if we have a problem at the back as well as mid field. We seemed in trouble nearly every time they put in crosses to beyond the far post, whether it was a corner, free kick or open play. That surprised me as I think we have a tall enough defence. Also Andre(at least in the second half) did not try often enough to get back after our attack broke down on the left. I think he is a terrific player but leaves the left back positioned exposed at times. I was also surprised that Danny came off to be replaced by O'Rawe(was he injured or were we trying to close the game down?). I thought the chance he missed with his first kick was very difficult so I wouldn't blame him for that. Cedric was a bit unlucky and I was quite impressed with him. Is Dave Collis the new Billy Goldstone? I thought he had a great game topped off by our likely goal of the season. I also thought it was a great game. Kingstonians look to deserve to be favourites to win the league and we are going to be more exciting to watch than for a number of years.

Ks fan here... I agree with Rambo Ram - from the view behind the goal, our first penalty was 50/50 (it was a slight foul but many refs wouldn't have given it) whereas the second was quite clear-cut. Our No. 11 is a handful and I'm sure he'll win us many more penalties this season. Our hat-trick man, Bobby Traynor, has won the Ryman Golden Boot for the last two years running and (I think) has missed only one spot-kick from c. 35.

I thought you looked generally very well organised, but a little nervous defending. Your first goal was a beaut. Ashlee Jones was (as we know) a superb keeper and a gent to boot. His full-stretch save during the second half was perhaps the best moment of the match.

A superb game - the best I've seen at Kingsmeadow for a while and you played a big part in that. When you levelled the game at 2-2, it could have gone either way - the next goal was always gonna be the decider.

Looking forward to the return game; good luck for the season.

Just echoing some of the previous posts. It was definitely a game that could've gone either way. The first goal for Billericay was stunning. I didn't really see how the equaliser came about. You certainly came out of the blocks quick, that's for sure.

All the best for the rest of the season!

I disagree that the second penalty was clear cut, I thought both were a joke. Excellent game, don't like the away kit. I like going to Kingstonian, always a friendly club and a nice stadium. I think they will do very well this season and should have gone up instead of that shower from Boreham who cheated their way! Shame the ref ruined the last 10 minutes, but definitely seen better football than all of last season excepting the Canvey slaughter.
