MFC 2 - 2 CANVEY

First 10 minutes we didnt look at all comfortable and CI punished us for this, however I think we got back into the game and played the better football for the later part of the first half. The first of our goals was crappy but welcome all the same. The second half was a different story as I personally thought we were by far the better side and CI reverted to long ball tactics which our new and dare I say solid defence got more and more adept at keeping out he hump and hoof tactics of Canvey. After the equalizer (well taken by Dean Grant btw) we had 95% possession and really looked like nicking the whole 3 points, unfortunately it wasnt to be. Before this game a lot of people were saying that they would take 4 points out of the next three games, someone ought to tell the lads that cos they certainly dont seem to want to be mid table come the end of the season - good for them and UP THE GATE

Did not settle quickly and Canvey punished us for that. Canvey No4 played the ref time and time again but that is what he is paid for.

OK would have loved 3 points and feel we should have had them on the performance in the last 70 mins but feel good game, ref did well to let it flow and at the end of the game we showed signs of what we can offer so my optimisium (and other words I cant spell) is still there.

I was not there today but followed it on Twitter. Would it be fair to say that the team got a bit of a reality check and wake -up call. We have a mixed team of youth and experience mixed with a couple of players from lower divisions who have taken the step up. It appears that it took a bit of time to get used to this level and CI took advantage of this. Excellent result in the end considrring the start. I'm looking forward to seeing them Tuesday night at Croydon, 10 minutes in the car wooopppeee.

Weren't brilliant yesterday, particularly in the first half. But didn't realise quite how much of an influence the wind was until we were down the Coffin End in the second half - certainly had an effect on the quality of football. Still, very encouraging to see us show the spirit to fight back from two goals down - O'Connell really seems to have instilled a 'never-say-die' attitude into the team. And, in truth, in the second half, we probably could have nicked a winner. Think both teams were happy to settle for a point in the end. Desperately need Ishmael back - think he would have run the two very immobile centre-backs ragged yesterday. Canvey are a solid team, though, and will probably achieve mid-table comfortably.

Good to see a decent following of Canvey fans as well. Made a bit of noise and wished us well at the end, fair play to them. Interesting to see Lowestoft beaten at Carshalton; and Tonbridge seemingly turned over at Billericay. Seems we could be in for another very unpredictable season. Isn't it great to have it back!?

First half Canvey kept the ball better, second half we kept the ball better. Lacey's throws seemed more dangerous yesterday, maybe they were a bit flatter and faster? Like Dutch Mike I was surprised how windy it was when I got down the far end. But I suppose you always have to play the conditions at Hartsdown. Siggy had no pace whatsoever and bringing Grant on was a good move (clearly...as he scored!)
