THURROCK 1 HORNCHURCH 3

Hornchurch dominated the first half and could have taken the lead on several occasions. Tambeson Eyong, Ross Wall and Frankie Williams all went close, and a Williams shot hit the bar, but it was the home side who went in front with their first shot of the match when TERRY DOYLE fired the ball over Peter Loveday from thirty yards out.

Frankie Williams made ground on the left and sent over a low cross which Dave Wooton grabbed at the feet of Ross Wall , and a free kick from Tommy Black drifted wide of the far post. Wooton then saved from Williams, and Wotton made a good save from Eyong after Black had created the opening. Close to half time Williams broke through, chipped the keeper and the ball dropped onto the roof of the net.

The second half was similar to the first, with Hornchurch having the majority of the play, and they levelled the score when Eyong started a move in midfield, and played the ball out to Black on the left. Black sent the ball into the middle for ROSS WALL to score from close range.

With shots coming in from all angles home keepr Wooton had a lot to do, but a packed defence could not keep out the second goal, which came from a solo run by TAMBESON EYONG who scored with a low drive from a very narrow angle. With Hornchurch threatening to score with every move, the third goal came after a Ross Wall shot had cannoned off a defender and TOMMY BLACK neatly chipped the ball over the keeper.

a cracking result but how comes this game wasn't publicised on the forum

i havent checked the website to see if it was on there but in future can we have all capital league games plus youth fixtures publicised in advance as some people do like to watch them

I believe there is a under 16's game away at barking sunday week, which young david drewitt(who used to come with biased bob) will be appearing for barking

The U16's were due to play a home game vs Manfred Way U18's this Sunday 22nd August - but according to their excellent U16's website the game has been postponed. There is a link on our website to the U16's site via the 'Reserves/Youth' dropdown. As Dagsy says all Capital League games are publicised on our website. On the front page you can see the result of the last game, the date and opponents for the next game and the League Table. The fixtures page details all results and match reports.
