What a great night for Barking Football Club. I put an extra spoon of cocoa in my late night drink to celebrate!

 

It wasn't pretty but we played well in the first half and got our goal, maybe should have had 1 or 2 more. Second half we sat back and hung on, with the odd break away. Credit to our defenders who dealt with a lot of long balls.

 

I haven't been this happy at the beginning of the season since Rod Stringer was in charge but he soon left for Aveley. Hopefully we can hang on to Mr Munday and co.

The young lad who scored the goal, Liddiard is definitely one to keep an eye on. I first spotted him playing for the Reserves last season. He's got a big future.

Thanks to all for their positives comments, in truth a workmanlike performance against a pretty ordinary Hadley team but the boys did get the job done and deserve a crack at Redbridge next up. I personally avoided excessive and over the top celebrations and opted for just half a spoon of extra cocoa and a custard cream after the match in accordance with the club budget.

Crowds have been encouraging this year and would presumably be even higher with some sort of bar facility so things seem to be heading in the right direction. Not sure Redbridge Manager would have been exactly quaking in his boots but hopefully can give them a good battle in the next round.
