Epsom and Ewell 5 Dorking 0

It's difficult to write this without appearing over confident (and I know that will get me nowhere on here) so I'll couch this in more qualifications than Stephen Hawkinge posesses. It's always difficult to work out early season with results whether its down to one side being good or their opponents being weak . I think I'm now ready to call it.

Over the last 3 games Epsom have produced the most complete set of performances I've seen in years in terms of flair, style ,workrate ,teamwork and decision making. So at the moment ,and I accept a golden patch can disappear as quickly as it comes .... We're good. The new players who have come in have added significantly to what was one of the better teams in the league anyway. I'm half regretting that I'll be away on holiday over the next fortnight and on my return the golden patch may have disappeared .

Part of the reason for being unnaturally bullish for me on here is to put Dorkings efforts into context . They deserve credit for keeping going and trying to play football even when they were getting a chasing and not losing their rags. They look to have the potential for a properly competitive team rather than the shambles they were putting out last year and I would expect them to do quite a bit better this season . If we continue to play like that (and it's a big if) we will do that to a few teams this season.

Wasn't fiesty?? arms raised, off the ball goings on, poor tackles flying in from all angles. Both teams looked fit and fast, the football was limited.

Hence the short report no mention of football played jus a battle an arms raised ? Your 9 seemed to jus wana run into players off the ball whats that all about its football not rugby!

Thanks TRS would have said hello if I'd known you where there last night :discobanana:

Just wondered did you get the Cambo keepers handball in the second half ?? looked way outside the box,

Disapointing 2nd half from Bookham as TRs's vid shows never got going, although some good save by the keeper kept the score down in the 1st half. Could be another long season

farnham 3 frimley green 1

frimley certainly started the brighter ,farnham were slow out of blocks and neither sides really created much 1st half. then a long kick from farnham keeper bounced over 2 frimley defenders and into the path of farnham number 9 who lobbed frimley keeper (1-0) , farnham made 2 changes at half time and obviuosly received stern words as they flew out of the blocks scoring twice in first 15 minutes of 2nd half, a through ball from left back and poor frimley defending left a simple 1 on 1 for farnham number 10 who finished well, then another threw ball for farnham number 9 who was then taken out by the frimley keeper and then picked himself up to bury the penalty (3-0). Frimley did get a goal back near the end a good finish from 7 after some slack defending but it was no more than a concilation. a good win for farnham in the end

Sandhurst 1 - 1 Guildford

A feisty game which was poorly controlled by a referee who thought that every foul was worthy of a yellow card and it was no surprise when someone received a 2nd yellow (Guildford player) late in the game as he was running out of people to book.

We had to battle hard against an aggressive side who will beat a lot of teams playing the way they do this season. Not my way of my playing but each to their own.

Sandhurst took the lead through Louis Hibbert early in 2nd half and the equaliser came in the 85th minute when a Guildford player got in front of our keeper to flick a header in to an empty net. Very disappointing goal to concede from our point of view and even more so when we missed a sitter in the last minute as I think we deserved the points.

Still 7 points from Epsom, Cove and Guildford is a very good start for us and I'd have definitely taken that before the season started. Nice little trip to Croydon up next!

Wembley 0 Egham Town 4

Egham played well against a skilful Wembley side. 1-0 up when the keeper punched Matt Grave's corner straight to John Pomroy, who controlled it and then smacked it in from the edge of the box. 2-0 after handball in the area, and Matt Grave's twice taken penalty (keeper moved off his line).3-0 Charlie Muldowney solo slalom round flatfooted defenders and a cracking finish. 4-0 Jamie Houghton wallop that diverted off a Wembley defender. Main talking point though was the sending off of the Wembley 10 and Town's Adam Foulser, ten minutes into the second half, with the score 1-0.. Foulser had gone for a tackle in the middle of the pitch, Wembley whined as they always do, Foulser stood up and was decked by the 10 with a cowardly blow to the back of his head and the ref, after long consultation with this assistants, sent both off. The extra space suited us though, with us scoring three times more.

I wonder if "Sarnie Supporter" was there?

Its amazing how a win can make you feel so good. I slept like a baby. (No i did not piss the bed)

Thought the overall score line was slightly flattering but to score 4 and keep a clean sheet was very pleasing against a half decent Wembley side.

The sending of was a real topic of debate.

Anyone behind Adam Foulser didn't think the tackle was that bad. Including Tomo, Tom Bently and Noady. (i think that was the angle you had Fergie ?)

However form the front were myself,Roy, Colin and the subs were the tackle looked awfull !

As soon as he did it i couldn't see anything but a straight red. Knowing Adam as i do i know there no malice in the tackle and he would not try to

hurt an apponent in that way but if you tackle with two feet that high of the floor then you run the risk.

Ironically the moment that then change the game was when the centre forward decidied to "cuff" adam on the back of the head.

I am glad he did not hit him properly as i think he would still be on the floor. (he was massive !)

Had he not done that we were down to 10 men with Wembley down the slope. (the alamo springs to mind)

However the officials got both decisions correct.

The sending of clearly worked to our advantage as after that we dominated and scored 3 in 15 minutes.

Was also good to see Pommers get the monkey of his back and bag his first goal. I am sure this will be the first on many and prove a few people wrong !

Overall a very pleasing display which will give us a real confidence boost.

Just what we need for Saturday and our tough trip to Chessington & Hook.

Up the sarnies !

Steve

Nice one T. Next you just next to incorporate captions showing scorers and times and it'll be perfect. ;)

The joys of using the camera software for a swift edit Bommie! Only allows titles at the start and no slowmo's or fancy stuff!

Nothing to do with either side mate. Thought the disciplin and officials were all poor. A fiesty game played at a high tempo, with neither team showning much on the football front.

Bookham 0-4 Camberley.

Comprehensive win for Cambo and could and should have been more. Bookham keeper made some good saves. Will have brief highlights tomorrow.

TC - on another note, you may like to know that tonight's ref at Dons v Histon was Warren Atkin. He awarded us a 90th minute penalty (with the score 0-0), so is OK in my book!

He was proably happy at doing a Conference game. When he refereed our Frimley Green vase match against VCD he kept going on about how the level was beneath him.

It was a carrot crunchers game last night again for me. Drew 1-1, saved a penalty and made a point blank save late on to earn a point.

Our officials at the FNE - KH game were terrible - he missed a stone wall pen in the second half aparently our player "dived" instead of heading the ball in the net from 3 yards out the ref and his assistants got so many easy decisions wrong and both sets of players were just laughing at some of the decisions.

And not allowed to speak to them either just told to "go away"- our captain "lost the right to speak to him" for the rest of the game when he was booked in the first half.

i must admit and this is not a direct dig as i wouldnt want to be a ref as its a horrible job, but i have watched 3 or four local teams in wessex league hants league combined counties league hellenic and by afr the worst are the combined counties , how u can have a lino that is 70 years old and hugely over weight and cant keep up with play , referee's that wont let any one even captains talk to them and feel the need to get there cards out at every possible occasion, what is the grading on ref's in this league as it cant be very strict?

Quite right Brunty, officials were unbelievable. The penalty that wasnt given was a joke, why would our player not head the ball in, given that it was such a good chance? The ref was calling all the FNE players by their first names as if he was best mates with them. He actually began laughing to himself at some decisions that he gave against us, as if he knew he was purposely being biased towards the other team. Unfortunately, we have had this ref a number of times and actually think its a personal thing he has against Knaphill. When booking me, as Brunty rightly stated, he said I 'lost the right to speak to him' for the rest of the game which was a joke. Blatant throw ins in front of the linesmen, blatant corners for us that werent given, two footed tackles where the ref would say "great tackle (name)", it was one thing after another. Can only hope that we dont get this guy again for the rest of the season, which unfortunately is unlikely.

Do we know what the name of the ref was as i think all teams should watch out for him? Both refs we have had this season have been poor, when you question a decision and they dont have an answer they just shout 'go away' and if another word is said we get booked, all because they know they have made a mistake and will not admit it. Very frustrating that there are many good teams in this league but we worry about the refs due to their incompetence
