Can anyone explain it?

Recommended Posts

Last Saturday for the first time in a good 30 years I came across square posts.I thought they had banned them, well at least at our level. Can anyone out there with a bit of knowledge shed a light on the matter please?I'm really puzzled about it.

FIFA laws of the game state...

1. The Field of Play - Goals

A goal consists of two upright posts equidistant from the corner flagposts and joined at the top by a horizontal crossbar.

The goalposts and crossbar must be made of wood, metal or other approved material. They must be square, rectangular, round or elliptical in shape and must not be dangerous to players.

The distance between the posts is 7.32 m (8 yds) and the distance from the lower edge of the crossbar to the ground is 2.44 m (8 ft).

That's interesting Hookey! So they are still legal then.It would be interesting to hear the word of a proper referee because I always thought that the reason they replaced them was they were dangerous to players.Amazing innit?
