Cycling to Hitchin!

Ian

Recommended Posts

This weekend is the start of the cycle rides to the furthest away games of the season. It’s a gentle start – just 40 miles to Hitchin. We’ll be leaving from what we hope will be the site of the new Rebels stadium in Stoke Road. From there we’ll head towards Gerrards Cross, Denham, Rickmansworth, through Watford to St Albans then up through the villages to avoid Luton (thankfully) and into Hitchin. Sounds easy, doesn’t it?!

I think there will be four of us cycling to Hitchin – me, Peter Riley (Glen’s dad) plus two of my work colleagues who are keeping us company. I will have a sponsor form with me on Saturday if anyone wants to put their name down. All funds will be split between the Slough Town Supporters Trust and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Wish us luck and give us a wave on the way if you pass us! :)

Thanks, Sue. Yes, was nice of the Hitchin chaps to mention it. We'll probably do a half-time wander round the pitch to collect a few quid. Looks like we may well get very wet around luncthime according to the weather forecast but nto to worry - once you're wet through you can't get any wetter!

Ian,

What time do you think you are likely to be arriving ?

It would be good to get the arrival on 'digital' film, and also to get a few of us to welcome you in

Not so worried about the welcome - it's not like we're walking 110 miles or anything!!!! Getting it on camera would be good though.

Really unsure about the timing to be honest. In theory it should be less than 3 hours actual cycling but we need to allow time for a refreshment stop, getting lost, possible punctures etc. My guess would be about 2:30pm. I can phone you when we approach Hitchin if you like? You'll have to PM me your mobile number again though!

There was a good article in today's Slough Express about the rides.
