I was impressed by our performance saturday and we look solid. I know its only the first game of the season but I am still worried about our strikers. Although Gary scored both of them were very defensive. When they got the bal they always looked to play it back to the midfield and did not think that they could get a shot off. I think sippo had the shot he scored and sonner.....did he have a shot?

 

I think we have a very good team but the forward line are lacking something. I think they are both very good players but im not convinced either of them will get 20 goals a season

 

What are your thoughts?

neither had many shots but neither really got enough of the ball and as a team we created very little. 1 chance 1 goal is a great conversion rate in Sippetts case anyway

 

but yes all we do really lack someone who can grab goals out of nothing maybe. Sippetts seems a goal poacher which is great to have and should result in a lot of goals. Sonner seems to need 3 or 4 chances to score at times but has brilliant work rate and is bound to get a fair amount of goals

 

anybody know where Simon Martin was???

 

ideally we need 1 striker but probably isn't a desperate rush in getting 1 more in

 

Wednesday I'd like to see a more balanced midfield rather than the seemingly lopsided 3 in middle and 1 wide that we seemed to have Saturday

Firstly, Gary Sippets scored 1 and Steve Sinclair scored 1.

 

I think it's been said for most of pre-season and currently by most supporters that we lack a 20/30 goal scorer to compete for automatic promotion. All I can say is Steve Bateman is the manager and he has said that, in his opinion, he is happy with the players we've already got and that there are enough goals in them to do the job required.

 

So I reckon we need to trust Steve Batemans judgement until results tell us otherwise.

It's all about opinions.

 

I think Mendy has the ability but I do question whether he currently has the neccessary character/mindset to make it into the first team.

 

Again IMO for a young lad when things don't go right his head seems to drop and tends to stroll around the pitch a bit too much for my liking. He can certainly make it but I think he will need another season or two.

 

Again Raj has the ability but might need another season or two.

Mendy needs to be eased in and given a chance when possible in much the same way Mo was last year. saying that there was a few months spell where we did not see Mo at all and yet by the start of the next season he finds himself at QPR. thats got to inspire lads like Mendy and Gil

i gess Raj aint signed for the rebels. and a youngster like Mo got the chance at QPR he was there at the right place n time.

 

these youngster sunny makh, kyle jeffrey, stanley, tony mendy, raj gill, Mo sharif all developed from the youth side, hopefully theres a reserve team for slough next season so they can get a chance

I think the difference is Mo not only has exceptional talent he has all the other attributes that I think you need to make it, enthusiasm, confidence, workrate etc.
