Ash's road to wembley lasted a good 45mins but after halftime Horley took control & deserved the win. Went behind in the 1st min to a deflected freekick but levelled midway in the half. Nothing between the sides but in the 2nd half Horley regained the lead & never looked back. Scored two more late goals to make the scoreline looking better for them, but again if we continue to defend like we have as a team its going to be a very long hard season ahead.

 

Anyway good luck to Horley in the next round against the Met Police

Think the same 1st half was about even and 2nd we dominated.

I think we look solid enough at the back this year again and perhaps have improved upfront which has always been our downfall so hopefully this season we will do ok.

Egham 1 Guildford 3.

 

Another very average performance from Egham at the Runneymede today. Which begs the question does Steve Baker know what he is doing?

 

Formation seems to be all over the place. We have so many strikers, but it seems defenders are what we desperately need.

 

Pomroy, very average and no effort.

I wasnt at the game but just heard back from our management team. the way the club handled all the rubbish said about our managers and players was superb.. also heard that the egham manager lost it at the end trying to fight our players..... disgraceful! some players thought egham wernt a bad side. also noted manager 50 sending info re guildford, perhaps he should have concentrated on his own team.

Steve, I haven't met you yet, but I would ignore all the comments, I sit on the bench every week and I certainly hear my manager and assistant manager shout and scream at both players and the other officials, it's part of the game, always has been and always will be.

 

Fair play for the comments Steve, i dunno how people can start coating you off after 2 games, Title contenders in my eyes, Definatley. Lets see where the die hard sarnie fan is at the end of the season. Of Course managers shout, jave u haerd my manager Wharfy, i think even when were 3-0 up he still rants as if were losing 3-0! part of football!

 

Well said Animal. I haven't heard one negative comment from the Egham fans about Steve Baker. Steve's a top bloke! We are behind him 100 percent ! UP THE EGHAM !!!

You're certainly right about the pub-lunch, and excellent it was, too.

 

No discount for OAP's, HOWEVER, the landlord was best-man at our wedding many years ago, which makes a difference.

 

Just for the record, I was adopted at birth, and my daughters eventually persuaded me to dig into my roots. From my ORIGINAL birth-certificate, 'Er Indoors' did her Miss Marple bit and discovered on line that I have an older brother - Made contact, and the rest is history, as they say. It was a great if somewhat emotional day !
