MVSCR v Chertsey

Mole Valley SCR 0 v Chertsey Town 5

2 nil up at half time and both were penalties and to be fair both were blatant pens, although MVSCR fans claim forward was off side before being fouled by last defender from behind, who was then shown a red card. May have been slighly harsh but he clearly took his legs away and was the last man, so technically was correct. I thought MVSCR battled well with 10 men and really tried to get in the game but did not create any real chances. A second pen just before half time and it was 2. In the second half Chertsey pushed on and scored 3 more quality goals in what turned out a comfortable win. On top of that Chertsey saw a shot comebck off the inside of the post, another smashed against the bar and the MVSCR keeper made 2 top quality saves, whilst Chertsey keeper never really got troubled.

Funniest part of the night was seeing stewards stop subs from kicking ball about on pitc at half time!! Apparently Cobham had told them it was not to be allowed as it could damagethe pitch!!!!!

no, not a massive crowd, no doubt affected by the weather but they had stewards in high vis vests! One bloke actually threatened to turn the lights out and go home if they did not stop kicking on the pitch, and at the time it was just the reserve keeper practising drop kicks

Sounds like the Chertski Committee just flexing muscle. Were there any 'KEEP OF THE GRASS' notices posted during the 15 minute break ?

We EXPECT our subs to use the pitch at half-time, to loosen up and keep warm.

What has it got to do with Chertsey committee?

Alas there were no keep off the grass signs. apparentley as MVSCR are tenants they have to do as Cobham ask.

I think B.J.R. just got his Cobham and Chertsey mixed up,I presume you warmed up on the pitch beforehand,Every Player has a right to warm up,not their fault that their happens to be another match there today.Rain always causes problems too much, not enuff.

Obviously disappointed with the results, but lets be honest to have a chance against Chertsey you need 11 men playing well, so to play them with 10 men for 70 minutes left us with little chance.

First penalty killed the game, and here I would disagree with CTFCBoy, I would say, from where i was (which was just by the enty gate, so pretty much looking across the line of the penalty area), initial contact was outside area and momentum took lad in - but it's all opinions. Sending off was harsh as second player was coming across. Game was over from that point on.

Second pen was a poor challenge by our lad, so no complaints at all. Just before half time as well, so you never know we may have got back into it, if we could have held on.

Third goal surprised most people as it looked for all the world as if it was going wide. 4th and 5th were top quality strikes. O'Regan looks top quality, as does the centre half (with the blue bandage) - CTFCBoy can confirm who he is.

So, overall, disappointed, but we battled hard and gave it a go, but as I said at the start, 10 men against Chertsey leaves you with little chance, and if you had told us a few years back we would be in the the FA Cup we would have bitten your hand off (at that stage our biggest cup comp would have been the Surrey Sunday Senior Cup)!

Warming up takes place in the field behind the ground - and is a rule Cobham have, as tenants we have to respect their rules, and so do our opposition.

Good luck to Chertsey in the next round against Chatham Town.

Fair point Briggers, I could not see from my angle whethr in box or out so take your word for it. As I said I thought you battled really well and have a very good side. Centre back you are talking about is Jack Francis, top quality. had his work cut out with your number 10 who was a real live wire and kept pushing right to the end.

Good luck in your season and see you again soon
