As quoted in the Maidenhead Advertiser by Jamie Jarvis last month:-

 

"I'm not going to be rushed into signing anyone.

So it looked like he knew the golden goose had flown the nest and he would now be picking up players who would play for next to nothing, surprised that he has not moved on yet to search for the next pot of gold to plunder.
