Few new refs Smudgie but a lot of the "Old Guard" still around.

Shame the Premier division doesnt see a few changes with clubs being promoted and relegated !!!!

and on the subject of referee's, I was chatting to an old friend last night who is still activly offication who advised me that referee's will automatically be docked half a point if players are seen with undergarments on which do not match the main colour of the shirt or shorts. They will also automatically be docked half a point if they do not issue mandatory cautions, even if applying some common sense would do.

In otherwords, pray that not too many of your games have assesors at them!!!

Also on the Carrot Crunchers league last night, I had an assistant referee who wanted to knuckle to knuckle (not sure what the correct term is but safe innit is commonly associated with it) rather than shake hands during the 'respect' handshake.

I must admit that the ungermant rule is just ridiculous ,ok i understand if for instance the home team are in white and away team in red and one of the away players has a red short sleeve top with a white long sleeve under garment underneath, but i have seen players booked for wearing cycling shorts that u can barely see , i just think the refs have enough to occupy them without asking them to check all players clothing

It can be a bit daft. We wear black and white at home and light blue/dark blue way. One lad had two pairs - black for home games and dark blue for away games (when we wore that kit). The undershorts matched the dark blue in our kit exactly, but referee at Cambo last year insisted he take them off. We caused a fuss, he came of, went back on without changing, the ref then said quietly "pretend I have not seen it", Cambo rightly kicked up a fuss and the whole thing descended into farce. The lad in question does have a old problem with his groin and the shorts were especially for severe groin problems, not like some who like to have them for comfort, but initially the referee would not have it.

Another funny one was at Guildford last year - hopefully it won't happen tonight - lino asks our big centre half in the pre-match checks to take off his black leggings, as they do not match the blue kit, then looks a bit closer to see that the player is not wearing any and is actually our 6'4" black centre half! Very worrying when we know he is running the line for the next 90!

I suppose there are some cases where the two are in complete contrast and there may be a point in these instances, but I always thought shirts and socks were the two main areas officials looked at.

I must say that so far I have seen or been involved with three games since Friday and each referee has had decent game, but on every occasion they have had to put up with constant moaning about decisions and must get really fed up with it so, as gman10 said, I am sure they would rather not have to worry about losing marks for seemingly minor matters. Judge them on their decision making, ability to manage situations that come up during most games, and how they interact with their own assistants, players and management.

Right, off down the A3 now!

Must admit, the two Referee's I've seen at Meadowbank so far are young and new to me. Both seemed very reasonable at their job though.

The Assistants, on the other hand........................

I swear one must be camping out in our changing rooms, as he's officiated at 'The Bank' twice in the last four days !!

:bolt:

You know me - NO NAMES - NO PACK..............................
