Can't see anything else on here so quickly - won 4-0 with first half goals from Ishmael, Cloke, Robinson and OG.

Team...

Turner (Lamprell)

Lacy (Grant)

Robinson (Etienne-Clark)

Osborne

Cloke

Ball

Marsden (Waugh)

Saunders

Ishmael (Tait)

Pinnock (Sigere)

Sherman (Harrington)

Unused sub - Winchcombe

...very young Gills side and poor attendance compared to the Sittingbourne game, probably only around 100 or so there.

Agree with Pagey on this more than 100 ish, however I do think the team the Gills put out was the youth side 15/16/17 year olds. Men against boys comes to mind and their team did look disheartened after the second goal - but lets not take this result away from the guys in blue, they battled all game everyone of them better in the first half (which is the main worry) and the second half the experience of Siguere and co stabled rather than pushed forward. Alan Tait is my main worry as he really doesnt look to be the striker we NEED this season and maybe Ismail/Eteinne would be a better bet. Most of the midfeild first half was dominated by JS and DM and the Gills couldnt break thru, but a greater test come the league games will see us punished methinks by a quick striker with an eye on goal. All in all a pleasing if flattering result on a otherwise boring tuesday nite - more of you guys should come along...... :)

Just me spelling it wrong I think, although I'm not sure what the right way is. Still my best guess is Ismael Baker as he's the only Ismael I can find who's played Ryman football in the past few seasons.

Apparently comes from Sierra Leone and has not been in the country for very long.

So more research for you Jeff

Attendance was called as 226.

As a side issue overheard the ref at the end of the game say how much he enjoyed himself refereeing the match.

That was a good attendance considering short notice. Looking around i thought it was circa 200.

Excellent first half, i don't accept that the opposition were "youths", they came here to Hartsdown Park and we gave them a tough match, they couldn't match our mid field or attackers in the first half.

Well done lads

There were some older ones in the side for sure Mark, their no11 for one. Was sitting in stands near some Gills fans/dads and they couldn't believe how we played them off the park in the first half. .

well i thought it was impressive last night.

ok-Gills third team, but you still have to best them-and they were'nt that young as others say.

We won the game ,because we controlled midfield-Sherman,saunders and Mardsden-all played equally well individually and as a team-they just took control of midfield. If you control the middle of the pitch-you control the game, and chances come.Midfield is the key.All those 3 are tenacious and ball winners-really good.

Excellent first half-and good flowing foortball with plenty of movement. No mateer who thr oppsition is-you only do that on your own back-so again-was impressed.

Thought robinson had taken his game up a level from last season-so that was also pleasing.

First to concede i had doubts about pinnock-confess i thought he was passed his best;but he was superb last night-loads of energy annd seemed like the pinnock of three seasons ago.(i apologise for doubts re: him-take it all back).he played further forward last night-and it seemed to work-thought Ishmail and pinns looked quite a threat together.

Relatively impressed by ishmail-he has decent close control, and does have a bit of proper pace. Also thought he took his goal well-an easish chance-but seen 50% of efforts balooned over from the samer postion-he kept it down well.

Back 3 looked sound-albeit-it seems pre-season-they have not really been tested.

Second half -reasonably good as well.

Sigere did pretty good in a deeper role.

Waugh did look lively-and frankly more of a threat trhan tait.

Did get into a few good positions-impressed.

To be fair to tait-did nothing wrong, but is playing a bit in 'no-mans land'-he is not a out and out goal scorer, neither is he really a deep lying forward.Has no pace, and no real heading ability-.Having said that-he did nothing wrong-but what position can he really play-a diffcult one for him and manger to sort out.

Maybe because the JS,JS and DM midfield were dominant in first half-it helped them look goood-but have to say that pinnock-playing further forward-and ishmail look like our best strike combination based on last night.

I do wish we would put 4 in defensive walls-the one save Turner had to make was unecessary had we 4 in the wall.

At tooting-we conceded becuase we did not have 4 in a defensive wall.

IOC-ensure the defensive wall has 2at least 4 in it-then we will stop making average free kicks look goood.

Well impressed with Sherman over the past couple of games. Looks quality. The midfield trio that started last night definitely seems to be bedding in. It'd be a shame to lose Jay just as things get underway. However, DM can drop in and that would allow Siggy a chance to play in a deep lying forward position behind possibly Ismael and Pinnock. Iain has plenty of good options and things are certainly looking quite settled.

Michael - the defence was certainly tested at Dover, and even without the class of Cloke at the back they coped well. Think Osborne is a good sweeper at this level and if the Ball/Cloke partnership starts most of the games we should do ok.

Gotta agree with that, (Ben) Sherman looks better with every game as does Marsden, 2 great signings IMO.

Could spell the end for WW who looked timid and out of place at Whitstable, one of our higher earners so i'm told so could allow Iain extra funds to secure Ettiene-Clark or A. N. Other.

Still need that out and out goal scorer as others have mentioned but these types are few and far between, it certainly isn't Tait on the evidence so far, seems to be lacking any real drive to get into telling positions and gives up far too easily, is he still carrying that injury?

Think its looking pretty solid at the back, though i would worry about cover should we suffer more than one injury in our centre three.

All in all its looking alot better than last pre-season when the team seemed awash with kids.
