For our new campaign to get people in the door I think we can keep a few as regulars

The beer is good

The football is good

The banter is good

The food is good

Now all we need to get right is the music. I always feel better if i enter a ground and can hear the music blaring. also have we decided on music to run out to yet?

Just my opinion but I think we need up-beat, jolly, feel good music that most young and older :oldman: people can relate to, to get the punters and players in a good mood.

Sometimes or most times last year I found the music was stuff that was too specific to the person choosing the music and un-recognisable and painful to most people ears.

Why don't we play a bit of everything that way everyone likes it,from the young to the old

As long as it's upbeat, uplifting and positive.

As much as I hate rap,the odd one could be thrown in, so as an example we could have a playlist different every week ie Chelsea Dagger- The Fratellis,One Step Beyond- Madness,Rebel Rebel-David Bowie,In The Mood-Glenn Miller,Empire State Of Mind[New York]- Alicia Keys and that rapper bloke?,I Walk The Line -Johnny Cash,Pretty Vacant -Sex Pistols,Simply The Best-Tina Turner, Two Little Boys -Rolf Harris,Sex On Fire-Kings Of Leon,fBlockbuster by Sweet,Ain't No Stopping Us Now by McFadden and Whitehead[or should it be Ain't No Stopping The Slough!

Being a bit of a music buff,I would willingly help,as I have a vast collection of different stuff.

Rolf Harris, Glen Miller, Tina Turner! Are you having a laugh?!

Can't please all the people all the time ! LOL !

Tom,don't get upset,we could always include some of your namesakes ie Tom Jones,Tommy Steele, music from the film 'Tommy', Tommy Roe[1950's pop star], Tom-Tom Club or even Tommy Gun by The Clash.

Remember variety is the spice of life.

3spirit,

Who the hell are Chelsea Dagger? and you can't call Empire State of Mind, Two Little Boys and Walk The Line upbeat and uplifting.

I think we just need good toe-tapping feel good pop music.

Some examples are James Brown's Sex machine and I feel good and most music by Kool and the Gang is positive feelgood stuff that most people can relate to.

There's nothing wrong with the music in the last couple of season. Whoever provides it has some pretty up to date music that's current to the charts. There's a few 'dodgy' ones now and again that you would not want at a football match, but all in all much better than the stuff that was played when we were at Wexham Park that was years out of date. By all means have a song to come out to if you want it, but please don't change whoever provides the music.

This might not please the old guard, but the stuff we play will hopefully help the younger generation come back if the come along to matches! The likes of some of the suggestions in this thread wont as it makes the club feel old fashioned when you want the club to feel fresh and vibrant.

I'm not sure the choice of music we play is what will attract the younger generation or drive them away.

I personally think being years out of date won't matter as long as they are the right songs that will achieve it's aim (positive, feelgood etc) and appeal to the vast majority.

Of course, we can still occasionally put on some of that @rap that's in the charts ;)

I've never been to a football league or Premier league game that has played nearly 90% of the names mentioned in this thread.

Chris is correct. Keep the music relevant to what's being played at the moment not 20/30/40 years ago!

When we attended the play off final at Chesham we had four Johnny Cash songs in a row ! Also I attend England rugby matches and they're always play Chelsea Dagger by The Fratelli's and Tom Hark by The Piranha's[this was also used by Wigan FC when they scored a goal].

I have a nephew and a 2nd cousin who come to games, they're both 21 and they prefer some of the old classics.Creates a more friendly atmosphere, music should be for all tastes, rather than relating and glorifying some story of gangsters and drugs that a lot of this rap music does and the negative views that brings.

As we are a attending a local footy match and want to build some comraderie [something sadly lacking with today's modern generation ], we should play foot tapping, uplifting, something a bit novel, music. Even if it encompasses TV themes, film scores, instrumentals and runs through all the 1930's,40's,50's,60's,70's,80's,90's and 2000+ years. That way you don't alienate anyone and after all it's only one song in a few.If we had someone doing it regular,I'm sure it would be possible to even have the odd request [if requested a week previous].

I thought that Kidderminister Harriers, when in the Conference with Slough, had an excellent set up with music over the tannoys and I thought it must have been quite exhilarating for the teams when they ran out of the tunnel to the sound of 5...4....3....2...1..THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO ! ! !

If we're worried about dates,we couldn't use that theme because it's from the 1960's.

Now Tom,if you want to volunteer to put in place, the music you feel will work,by all means go ahead. Just try and be a bit positive, though.
