Dennis Fenemore and Adam Martin

Interesting reading on the Hemel Hempstead forum tonight about Hemel's 1-0 win over St Albans. It appears Dennis Fenemore isn't a happy bunny with being substitued during the match and doesn't seem to be getting along at all with the manager Colin Payne.Let's hope they fall out ! and he looks for a new club and where better than here with Slough! Just hope he doesn't go back to Burnham.

That would solve our hunt for a 20-30 goal striker.

If I were manager I would look for a player exchange with Sean Sonner going to Hemel[as he was wanted by Payne].

Also mentioned on forum that ex Hemel player Adam Martin had a very anonymous game.Only played 2nd half though.

Wouldn't that be the icing on the cake,if we could land them two.

Yeah I think Sonner is a dead cert to start. Its just who starts with him. if we bring in fenemore and get rid of sean then we are back to square one. One good striker.

I hope martin can prove himself as his st albans goalscoring record speaks for itself.

If Slough could afford to have both that would be dandy !

I only mentioned a player exchange because Colin Payne wanted Sean Sonner, when he first got appointed at Hemel Hempstead.

I think Sean Sonner is a very good player, too.

However for me, he doesn't score enough goals. He does tremendous work shutting down defenders, tackling back and works hard around the pitch but does tend to drift out wide a lot and so he just doesn't put the ball in the net enough.I don't want too be too harsh on Sonner,as I admire his tenacity and work rate but at the end of the day it's goals that win games.

Actual fact, Fenemore and Sonner would be a good pairing but these things are all down to budgets and what we can get for the money on offer.

Given the fact that Dennis Fenemore played with Paul Coyne,Stuart Swift and Terry O'Connor[as well as Craig] last year,I would have thought it possible that we may have a chance of getting him,if it's true that he's unhappy at Hemel.I would have thought that would be just about the ideal replacement for Elliot Buchanan, given Fenemore's goalscoring record at our level.

I agree about Sonner. Always gives 100% and is popular with the crowd but under our system last year just doesn't get enough goals.

This will be more important this time round as my one concern is the number of goals our forwards are going to get. Buchanan has gone and Martin was more prolific at the start of the season - towards the end he tailed off and even lost his place. He's in his thirties now so certainly won't be getting any faster. I don't expect Craig to get 20 goals and we don't know how much Sippetts will play so Sean has to contribute more. Let's hope we can find a striker like Fenemore to come in late on as Buchanan did last year. Midfield will score quite a few but we cannot rely on them too much and expect to challenge.

Still, Barton were the worst team in the division last year who are still in it, so we must beat them at home and beat them well, as on paper this is our easiest game of the season.

I hope you're right about Barton and that none of their team read your last line of your message,as if I was their manager I would use it as a motivational method to stir up the Barton players! lol !

As we all know, not all things go to plan !

However, having seen most of the pre-season games,I think Slough should be capable of, at the very least a draw.
