For a bit of fun

Recommended Posts

I know it's down to SB etc etc but for a bit of fun does anyone disagree with my opinion of the starting line-up for next Saturday and why?

Sweeney Yads Seeby Murphy

Sincs Coyne Swift T. O'Connor

Sonner Sippetts

To be honest I am torn between Terry O'Connor and Chris Heron down the left (one will give us more flair and one gives us more defensive stability) but because he's been available for most of the pre-season games and he hasn't let us down I've gone for Terry O'Connor.

Firstly, I'd probably play with a goalkeeper, quite important if we're to challenge this season.

Can Terry O'Connor play left side? I've not seen him play there but would be willing to be proven wrong.

Sadly I can't agree about Sippetts. I'm yet to see him have a good game for us.

Personally I'd go with Perks, Sweeney, Murphy, Seeby, Yeboah, Sinclair, Swift, Coyne, Byrne, Sonner, C O'Connor.

think Matt is about right tbh. just 1 or 2 debates. defence picks itself really as does 3 outta 4 in midfield

if Byrne is fully fit he will probably get the edge over the other options. can't imagine Herron is fit enough having played so few games in pre-season

still worries me about what strikers going to deliver goals. all are prone to missing guilt edged chances but on their day can also all bury their chances. very little to pick between them really

For my two pence worth, for the Barton Rovers game, I'd have either Perks or Jacko in goal,as really there's nothing to choose between them.Probably just edge for Jacko,as he organises the defence well with his vocals.

As said before the defence picks itself, so Sweeney-RB,Yeboah and Seeby-CB's,Murphy-LB.

Midfield, I'd start with Sinclair on the right, Coyne and Swift - CM,and young Fergus Neil on the left wing.

Upfront bearing in mind that Craig O'Connor is suspended for first two games[if true?] I'd start with Sonner and Martin.

Subs would be Perks,T.O'Connor,Byrne,Herron and Sippetts.

I think that you then have the option on bringing Herron on the left , in the 2nd half[as he hasn't had much game time] for Neil or Sinclair could go on the left[like yesterday] and T.O'Connor could be brought on for the right side,if we're trying to hold onto the lead.

I think Byrne has just about got the edge over Kean,at the moment, for a place on the bench.

Couple of points:

1) Craig O'Connor is definately suspended for Saturday and possibly Wednesday as well.

2) As far as we know Fergus Neil has not signed yet and because he never came off the bench yesterday whether he signs remains to be seen.

In the Non-League newspaper today,Bertie Brayley -Concord Rangers striker picks his Dream Team[players he's played with or against] and chose Shaun Byrne as his left wing-back..

So Reading Rebel,if Fergus Neil hasn't signed,I would play Byrne on the left for the first 60 mins and then look to bring Herron on or switch Sinclair to the left,as I previously mentioned.

Wasn't there Saturday, but seen all the other friendlies bar Leverstock. Only a couple of decisions to be made I think, unless we bring in a coupe of players this week as a lot of good players are getting released now that have not quite made it at some clubs.

First is the goalkeeper position. Not even sure Bates knows who his number 1 is yet! Really think it's a toss of the coin between them. For me Perks edges it, but I think Jacko may start based on his good end to last season.

I think if Herron played more pre-season he'd start, but i'm pretty sure Byrne will. Also think Simon Martin will get the nod to start up front with Sonner as well especially with O'Connor suspended.

More interesting will be our formation and where players play. What you would have thought was Swift would play left-wing, but he's played 90% of pre-season in central midfield alongside Coyne so it will be interesting to see who lines up where in midfield. Also read Saturday that Sincs started wide left which is an interesting one. The fact we can shift the midfield around bodes well for the coming season.

Important to hit the ground running with the first two games as the one against Hitchin the following Saturday is a biggy!

IMO I think it's pretty well nailed on that Perks will be in goal on Saturday especially as it seems that Jacko is dual registered with Flackwell.
