Scores - First Day

JJ Not sure who, because was'nt there and only getting it second hand. Yes pitch is looking good, shame we didnt play on it. I was shocked when I heard the result, pre season's been going well was sure someone was winding me up. Darren's still not sure whats he's doing yet, will prop get itchy feet soon. Your comments about our stand a bit harsh, we are proud of it. Looking forward to Wednesday's game.

Hi Dobo, I was there on Saturday and heard the comment made at the time, can't say on the website who it was but I'll tell JJ when I see him next. I stupid comment to make anyway, and in ear shot of management staff in totally out of order!

Hi medic hope you are well, did you play on Saturday or are you still waiting to make your debut ?

Hi Duncs, no not made my debut yet, I think Koo is waiting for JJ to get injuried before he puts me in the team, so I can command the midfield, hows you?

Egham Town 1 Mole Valley SCR 4. Five seasons on the spin without an opening day win. Egham played Grave, Pomroy and Barrance up front and it looked good in the first half with some lovely touches and quick breaks. Just before the half ended Taylor Mollatt took a long ball from defence, with three MV players offside, and knocked the ball in for Nehemiah Adams to score. Early in the second half we went two down as the same scorer took a chance made by Mollatt and it was three after 72 mins when Richard Smith forced Justin Gray to make the best save of the game then turn the rebound in. (Second best was from Anthony Guiney, diving to his right to stop Mollatt scoring an o.g.) There was an immediate reply from Matt Grave after a scramble in the box but a penalty with five minutes left (scored by Phil Page) put the tin hat on it. MV played with a good pace and an infuriatingly tight offside trap that kept catching our forwards out. So much for my prediction of a 3-1 win! Still, at least it is not as bad as 0-7... Not sure if we were pony or if MV are a decent side. Best if Mr Baker comments on that. For sure we were second best too often.

I think it was a case of Mole Valley turned up and we did not.

There is always a shock result on the first day just never thought it would be us !

Really disapointing performance, after the Uxbridge and Beaconsfield games. For me they worked harder and had more desire. (not like us)

I do however think 4-1 was not a fair relection of the game and the first goal was a mile off side and the 4th penalty was a poor decision.

No excuses though as Mole Valley were deserved winners on the day.

The only other disapointment of the day was a particluar Egham fan effing and jeffing at me and telling me to sort this sh*t out

Some people have very short memories!

I wish we had a game tomorrow night as after a poor defeat you want to bounce straight back.

However a hard session without the ball may do the trick. Not a disaster just a bad start.

Cheers

Steve

Good, honest posting, Steve. That's what baffled the Sarnies; we almost had a Delia moment ("Come on Egham, where are you?") I have no doubt the forwards will fire but we did look ponderous at the back. I don't know who the sweary person was - I bet he wasn't doing that last season in our unbeaten run that gave us two byes in the Vase. I hope you don't mind me putting your comments on the eghamtown.com site. I hope that is the last we see of non-performances like that, but then I've been watching Egham for 40 years...

No problem Mark. I know who he was but wont give him the publicity of naming him. Twat !

Fair reflection on the match Steve,

We got the players to do well this season and when they 'click' they are one hell of a team.

I never heard who was shouting at ya but I could give it a good guess!

But best quote of the day came from you when in the dugout after MV SCR scored their 3rd goal;

Something along the lines of..."Well done lads, well done lads...THAT WAS SH*T!"

Roll on Saturday !

UP THE EGHAM !

Mike

Another worry for me Ed was that when the tide started to turn you guys started having a pop at the officials over everything.

Borg would have saved the first that is for sure.

Our players do this too often Kroons. We might have gone further in the Vase last season but missed two (or maybe three now I think about it) main midfielders through suspension that day.

I shall reserve my judgement about the standard of refereeing as we have a massive FA Cup tie this week and the ref we have been allocated has sent our players off before, but we do get on the officials case more than we should. One got sent off for arguing about a throw on last season. Seriously.

The referee was ok from Saturday, made one or two questionable decisions as most do, but I thought he handled the game well.

Our thrid goal was funny. EE went to take a quick free kick, passed it against their own player a few yards away and when the taker went to try and get the ball back, he tripped over the referee!

How's Ash United looking Dunc's?

Who is Bonzo's assistant and how strong do Ash look??

Rumours were that there were only half a dozen players at the first few pre season sessions!

Johno

MIKE SCOTT is Bonzo's assistant, just he's playing cricket for normandy until the season finishes.

Yep we did have a shortage of players pre-season, but he's now got a reasonable squad which like Duncs said he hopes to add too when players have finally worked out its not always greener on the other side
