HT

Knaphill 1 - 0 Hayes Gate

Hogsden

Lively start of the season, makes achange not being 1-0 down after 30 seconds. Ricky Hogsden (potential Golden Boot winner?) with a screamer from 20 yards separates the two teams. Knaphill look comfortable with Hayes dangerous on the flanks.

FT

Knaphill 1 - 3 Hayes Gate

Egham Town 1 Mole Valley SCR 4. Five seasons on the spin without an opening day win. Egham played Grave, Pomroy and Barrance up front and it looked good in the first half with some lovely touches and quick breaks. Just before the half ended Taylor Mollatt took a long ball from defence, with three MV players offside, and knocked the ball in for Nehemiah Adams to score. Early in the second half we went two down as the same scorer took a chance made by Mollatt and it was three after 72 mins when Richard Smith forced Justin Gray to make the best save of the game then turn the rebound in. (Second best was from Anthony Guiney, diving to his right to stop Mollatt scoring an o.g.) There was an immediate reply from Matt Grave after a scramble in the box but a penalty with five minutes left (scored by Phil Page) put the tin hat on it. MV played with a good pace and an infuriatingly tight offside trap that kept catching our forwards out. So much for my prediction of a 3-1 win! Still, at least it is not as bad as 0-7... Not sure if we were pony or if MV are a decent side. Best if Mr Baker comments on that. For sure we were second best too often.

Chertsey 3-1 badshot. Very feisty first game of the season for Chertsey bit a fully deserved win!! Chertsey opened the scoring when a looping shot from Dean papali went over the keeper and into the far corner, badshot then equalised early in the second through a penalty after jack Francis had pushed a badshot player on the back, the lively Marty Baxter then regained chertseys lead with a poachers goal after a jack Francis free kick had been saved by the goalkeeper. badshot never gave up and were a very organised side but Chertsey and in particular Tom oregan managed to break and a stunning finish from oregan after holding off two badshot lea defenders wraped up a very physical game for Chertsey!

Exactly my words on twitter at HT, Chertsey Boy! I'm surprised we finished the game with a full compliment. Badshot Lea, very strong & physical and are going to steam roller a few sides this year. Seeing them play against Banstead's kids will be interesting. Deserved win in the end for Chertsey, impressed with McGibbon at right back and a great goal from O'Regan to wrap it up. Thankfully I think I caught that well, unlike the opening goal when I had a great view of the back of the lino's head  My own fault - you don't stand in the same half as the lino when he's on the same side - basics!!
