How good were Epsom?

Hi all

In another thread about our stunning victory today, someone asked whether Epsom & Ewell were a good team or not.

Can only answer from a statistical point of view, but from the most astonishing 'stat pack' I found on the E & E website, last season's final results were:

Played 46: Won 19, Drew 12, Lost 15

Goals For: 67 Against: 66

Final league position: 9th

Average home attendance: 104

So if today's team was anything like last season's, they were 'better than average' for the division, and we should be very pleased with the result.

[bTW - the 'stat pack' is a 36-page pdf file containing an astonishing array of information on every club in the division last year - attendance figures, time between goals, clean sheets, etc But it takes a long time to download (lots of diagrams, pie-charts, etc!)]

Good to hear you enjoyed the Stat Pack PJ!

Answer to your question - No, it was not the same team as we have lost our three most influential players from last season to Croydon Athletic over the close season and we had some other players not available that may of started. We were very poor and we hope you just came across us on an off day for us as we had a few last season. Matches against Lewes, Dulwich & Bromley will tell you how good you are

Hi Rob

I don't know about 'enjoy' the stat pack - it took ages to download, and the info I wanted was on page 35 <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> - but it was very informative. (A summary on the website would have been nicer though!)

Considering the Slough team also had 6 new players (plus 2 new subs), last season's form for either club is not much to go on.

It will be interesting to see how the two teams perform this year.

Was it Epsom or Slough that had the 'off' day?
