Cheers Australian FA - applied for clearence exactly 4 weeks ago and head absolute nowt. One of our key players now has to miss the seasons opener

I understood that if you hear nothing after 30 days then that means they are ok to play ...Its if they contact you then there is a problem.....

Weeble is basically correct although clubs must obtain the approval of the FA to play the player even after 30 days. Once a club applies to the FA for International Clearance, they will approach the National Association of the other country. If no response is received within 30 days, the FA will then issue a provisional certificate to allow the player to play in this country. That certificate will then become permanent one year after the initial request, although it can be withdrawn during that period if the former association provides valid reasons why that should happen. International Clearance is required for all players aged 12 and above who have played abroad and, in case anyone doesn't know, "abroad" includes Wales, Scotland and Ireland as far as this provision is concerned.

I think it's all really to do with a discipline record abroad, Kroons.

Who knows - You might be signing a Hannibal Lecter !

We had the same problem a few years ago when signing a South African U21 international and a chap from Germany. No-one tells you that if you don't hear within 28 days you can apply for clearance. We waited months!!
