Hi,

Yes we still have the likes of Scully, Stamp and the centre midfielder who will allbe playing tomorrow.

We've big plans for the ground this year and everything should be in place to ensure promotion, if we finish in the top 3.

What team do you play for?

havent signed for anyone at mo, sounds like you are going places ,would be something else if you did considering you were aldershot league only few seasons ago

Epsom & Ewell have had the following new joiners, and although I believe they have all signed, I do not know this for certain, as I haven't been party to this.

Mark Jarman has returned from Bookham, also Sam Currie from Bookham

Tom Jelley has returned to the club from Banstead

Luke Gay also returned from Corinthian Casuals

Darren Smith has returned from Chessington & Hook and Paul West has also joined from that club.

Phil N'gbale has returned after a break from football

Gary Hewson has joined from Carlisle United, and no I'm not sure at what level he played there before you ask.

Joe Paris has joined from Camberley Town

Tony Cuff has joined from Leatherhead and Sutton United previously

Dean Sammut has joined from Banstead

Matt Fowler has joined after a break from football with injury. Too many clubs to mention but a top player when fit.

On the leavers side it appears that Matt Smith is no longer with us, while Richard Webber also hasn't played yet, but I can't confirm whether that is because he has left or is still injured from his ankle break at Badshot Lea in May.

I believe we will be stronger this year than last, but recent friendly results like our 1-0 defeat to Molesey tell me that it might take a while before we get going. Hopefully we'll still be in some of the cups by that time, with our FA Cup match with Shoreham on the 14th August being of particular concern. Luckily we don't play in the Vase until November!

E&E HAVE HEARD THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE THAT ROBBIE BURNS HAS GONE TO A RYMANS CLUB AGAIN...................E&E AWAIT HIS RETURN !

IS THIS TRUE?

MATT FOWLER BLIMEY ! HE'S A DECENT PLAYER AND WILL SCORE GOALS ALTHOUGH I RECALL BE BROKE HIS ANKLE (I THINK) AND HAS BEEN OUT OF FOOTBALL FOR A WHILE. SAW HIM PLAY FOR AFC WIMBLEDON. ALTHOUGH HE'S NO SPRING CHICKEN, GET HIM FIT HE WILL BE AN ASSETT WITH GOALS AND EXPERIENCE

Things have moved quite quickly in the last few years. The new ground was obviously a major influence on this progression.

Interesting that you mention Scully, as he was playing for us when we were in the Aldershot & District League Division 2. This is a league below our third team now!

Just a quickie to update the situation here.

Matt Smith has just returned from holiday and played in our friendly last night as did Tommy Moorhouse. Richard Webber is still with the club but injured.

E&E I SEE NO COMMENT REGARDING ROBBIE BURNS SO TAKE IT HE'S LEFT YOU GUYS. THE MUCH TRAVELLED TOMMY MOORHOUSE SAW HIM PLAY FOR KINGSTONIAN, WILL BE GOOD AT CCL LEVEL BUT DONT HOLD YOUR BREATHE ON HOW LONG HE WILL STAY, ! DIDN'T HE PLAY FOR CHARTSEY FOR A FEW GAMES LAST SEASON UNTIL BEING DUBBED THEN LEFT SO I HEARD ?

Robbie has tried out definitely with Hampton & Richmond Borough, and possibly others that we are unaware of. His status is definitely uncertain though, although a pretty good indicator is that Dougie his dad remains very much involved and on the Committee at Epsom, so I think we'll see Robbie again if he can't get a regular place at a higher level.

As for Fowler, he clearly seems to be enjoying his time on the pitch, but has some way to go in terms of fitness. Lyndon certainly has a lot of choices for the opening match on Saturday, and I suspect it may take a game or two before he settles on his main eleven and they begin to gel. Mark Jarman will almost certainly start up front on Saturday, and he has scored a lot of goals at Bookham in recent seasons which is a fantastic achievement. A run in our first team is something he didn't get last year but it is much more likely to happen this year with Robbie's status uncertain. Who knows how many he could score with better team mates around him (no offence meant, Bookham).

Sorry nice guy, I responded to update my earlier post, and then saw your response!

Moorhouse also played for as briefly last year too, including a disappointing performance at Chertsey in April. Reliability was an issue and I was surprised to see him along yesterday evening. However, we have a lot of options this year, so if he isn't reliable, he can be replaced quite quickly, and I'm sure he is well aware of that after watching the players on show, many of whom are much fitter currently.

CHEERS E&E, SO ROMOURS WERE TRUE FOR NOW ANYWAY ! IS THERE SOME SORT OF FAVOURITISM WITH HIS DAD BEING ON THE COMMITTEE SO IF ROBBIE GOES BACK TO YOU, HE WILL GET STRAIGHT BACK IN WITH HOUGH AS THE OTHER STRIKER, SO AGAIN JARMAN WILL BE BENCHED....WATCH THIS SPACE !

WHO DID YOU PLAY AND HOW DID YOU GET ON LAST NIGHT ?

I can confirm that there is no favouritism. The Committee have NO involvement with team selection whatsoever. That's what we have a Manager for!

We had a friendly with Hampton & Richmond Youth team, playing two different elevens in each half. We won 2-0. The report is already on our website, which will be updated much more often this season.

if you play football now. does that mean you did not like the last managers style of play. could be a long season at horley.

Different managers different style ,and to be honest I never liked the old way they played , as said alot of new players here now ,and we still have not had them on the pitch all together in any of our friendlies , so your right could be a long season at Horley Town FC ........................Rashers

having watched the friendlies, to be honest, no gateman, no physio, no res. manager, no coaches, no goalkeepers, no players, no managers, no training, no money, no social members, no youth team, no 1st team, but the rugby will be worth watching. its a long season at horley.

Bedfont Sports have new look side bar 4 or 5 from last season, have signed a few players who have played in the prem and can still do so. Good squad i reckon a bit of a dark horse!

anyone know much of the hayes gate squad and the players they have that have played a higher league ?

a fair few of their players from last season havent returned, such as their 2 centre halves (both played in Zamaretto league previously), striker who was once with QPR, their influential centre midfielder who was at uxbridge and slough has a knee injury and out for a while, Danny Jordan ex Slough is now with Flackwell im led to believe, and Ryan O'Toole only played a few games for them last year to help them out.

Most of their players this season have played Spartan/Combined prem and div 1 levels most of their careers, are all decent and think they will do fairly well this year in Div 1. Strong side, physical, quick on the wings, nippy forward who loves the ball over the top, but slow at the back.

Hope that helps

many thanks neutral bob any reason for them not returning as seems silly to drop down to midd prem , get promoted then leave ? is that barrance homer and currie left ?

Basically those ones mentioned all dropped down purely to play with mates and because they couldnt commit, and in my very personal opinion, only Homer could cut it now at that level as Barrance isnt mobile enough now and Currie just cant be bothered and has lost his pace so wouldnt have helped their cause anyway, only my opinion mind. Saying that, they r still a very useful side and would expect them to be top 4 most def.

Hayes Gate had a very good squad last season with alot of experienced old heads who have played ryman 1 and higher, not sure who has returned , did play some good attacking football last year but gave away stupid goals

chris cahil: windsor, marlow, afc hayes

dan hawkesworh: yeading, uxbridge

greg homer : afc hayes

terry barrance: afc hayes beaconsfield

chris fermie: afc hayes, slough, uxbridge

paul mcgovern: afc hayes, kingsbury, hampton & richmond

michael currie : qpr, hampton & richmond, beaconsfield

dan barrance: beaconsfield

the owner of the club is a friend of theirs hence why there all down there
