A very poor performance against a mediocre side. From this match the team looks substantially weaker than a few months ago.

 

The defender who came from leyton looked out of his depth (and has done during pre-season by all accounts), and the other additions don't look to have strengthened us (number 8 & Acquah).

 

Sure the pitch isn't great, but we gave away goals without Chopper standing a chance. The new system Jim tried didn't work and we looked a little more solid once Gant went into right back.

 

We did have chances (hitting the post & bar), but the strikers weren't convincing.

 

Let's hope things can only get better!

the new defender from leyton just needs a chance to settle in. i watched him last season at leyton and his class shone, give him a break and reap the rewards once he settles into the new system

What class? How long have we got? He was going to be good at Bishops Stortford, Cheshunt, Hendon, Long Melford and Basildon. He is consistent, I'll grant you that! Whatever he had last season he has fail to show for the town, only he and the management team knows why? I've heard stories of groine strain etc. If he could play half as good as he talks - no problem.

 

The Management team isn't off the hook either as the new defensive approach has failed to work or impress the fans so far. If you remove Fenn from the equation and the problem still persists then maybe he isn't the problem it is the system.

3 of the goals were down to Mr Fenn. If he starts against Eton Manor I will disappointed and concerned, especially when we have Adam Gant - a truly class defender IMHO. I understand we have another full/wing back joining us: how about Snowden, Gant and Allen as centre backs, with Matty and New Boy as wing backs?

 

Strikers - jury still out, can't really blame them as tey had little service. We missed Rids in midfield with his perception and little dinky passes. We need a playmaker, not gritty sturdy types - why drag ourselves down to the level of others?

 

Clearly Jim also has to look closely at the most likely cause of the problem: Chopper's socks. Now what was that all about? Orange socks for God's sake? I thought our players were noted for their sartorial elegance and good taste? Get it sorted lads!

 

I must admit that I was not wearing the lucky underpants, and must therefore shoulder some of the blame.

 

Come on the Town!

well i think you should give him a chance. the system does not work and its this that needs changing not the player.

 

wise up management, you have a great side but you are stiffling what strengths you have. its easy to blame individuals when things are going badly but open your eyes and look at the big picture

You are probably right. We only played to 50% of our potential on Saturday on a each that in fact is worse than Southen Manors. What is it with Enfield's fixation about Ex-Southend Manor players anyway ?

 

Do you really belive that you play like Brazil !

 

I think you all may need a large slice of reality pie my friends

 

Don't live on last years performance. It what happens now that counts !

I would like to apologise. Basildon weren't mediocre, they were nowhere near that good! Town were just very bad.

Southend Manor were an unpleasant bunch last year and unfortunately Basildon appear to have inhereted most of their team - take the foul on Chopper as an example of their style of play.

I for one would love a slice of pie, however it appears that some of your players have eaten it all! <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
