Yes, Lee. "Tribunal - a year's delay - oh, dear!"

yes peter, oh dear indeed, plenty of time for his value to increase.

A season at Chelmsford would tripple his current worth at least....wouldn't it?..

Of course values can go down as well as up. And I would be very pleased if Billy stayed with us and his value tripled over a season because it would mean he would have banged in lots of goals....

If the price of a share triples and you decide to sell then it may mean that you have to pay three times as much capital gains tax but you'd still be pleased that its value tripled....

Apparantly it's the "done thing" in mid-Essex to let promising youngsters move onwards & upwards to further their career and not put any obstacles in their way, such as wanting a fee or recompence.

Consequently they may be a bit put out if we have the nerve to respectfully doff our cap & hold it out for a shilling or two for Billy.

No problems Rik, thats because we are nice people in Chelmsford................. :discobanana:

However with our recent history with strkers we tend to chew them up and pass them down to you, together with a few defenders.......Baker - Cousins - Oaks - Knight etc.....your not our pensioner team in disguise are you??????????

From CCFC's official web-site, www.chelmsfordcityfootballclub.co.uk :-

Tuesday 10th August 2010

Young forward Billy Bricknell believes Chelmsford City’s youthful strikers have enough goals between them to fire the club to Blue Square Bet South promotion after completing his move for an undisclosed fee from Ryman League Premier Division club Billericay Town.

Bricknell (pictured above with Clarets Vice-Chairman, Paul Hopkins), who was the New Lodge club’s top scorer last season and has recently been on trial with npower Football League Two side Barnet, joins Sam Higgins in moving to City having netted on a regular basis at a lower level and he’s convinced Glenn Pennyfather’s new-look front line have what it takes to find the back of the net on a regular basis.

“It’s a good opportunity for me to try and score goals at this level,” explained Bricknell. “Glenn was saying if I come in and do well I will play on merit and I’m confident in myself to do well. I know a few of the boys here already. Previously speaking with Ricky Holmes, who’s just gone to Barnet, in training he said it was a good club and said you’ll do well down there so it was a bit of a no-brainer really to come here.”

Billy is in his early twenties and gained youth experience at Tottenham Hotspur. He started in the non-league game with Leyton in the Ryman League then moved to Billericay in January 2008, producing a number of impressive displays and netting enough goals to attract the interest of several Football League scouts to New Lodge.

He added: “I was there [at Billericay] just over two years and left in the summer to go on trial at Barnet. Things didn’t quite work out and I didn’t really get a chance to play games and I spoke to Glenn quite a few times on the phone, along with a couple of other clubs, but Glenn invited me down to play a game at Heybridge Swifts. I took the opportunity and the club have taken care of everything since then quite smoothly.”

Although he only completed his move in the week leading-up to the first competitive game, Bricknell believes he will have no issues with settling-in quickly, commenting: “I know Ricky Modeste as I used to play with him when I was younger and he’s very quick. I don’t know a lot about Sam or Robbie but I know Sam’s scored goals and hopefully I can bring goals to the season this year to try and get us pushing for promotion. I know that’s what Glenn wants and I know that’s what the club wants and needs.”

Bill can, and will, do that...how's Ricky doing at Barnet?

Ricky wore the no.11 shirt for Barnet for their home game against Burton Albion today, Steve, which ended 0-0. I note the BBC report of the game included this-

"The hosts' best chance came just after half-time when Ricky Holmes turned sharply before seeing his effort brilliantly saved by Adam Legzdins."

There are many ways in non league football to re coup money when a player was being paid 52 weeks a year Ryan. Its not all about the selling fee. I'm sure TC will explain that to you if you ask.

TC, we understand Ricky is doing well at that level, but unfortunately, Barnet are not having lost two games and drawn one. I'm sure we will all hope we will see him at MP again next season.

I am sure you have seen our squad TC and we have more then made up for our loss of his services.

Billy only was given about 30 mins on Saturday, but he was superb.

Looking forward to visiting NL this season!
