Colchester 2-1 up after Urchins went 1-0 ahead through Tommy Black.

Young 16 year old substitute for Colchester scored two well taken goals and was the difference. Urchins did well but lacking a little up front I feel. East side was noisy.

if we get a good foward and we play like we did in the first half every game it could be a cracking season.

Thought the team played very well tonight against a league 1 opposition.

Who were just slightly better than us, performance wise.

Full credit to hornchurch tho!!

I thought it was a good performance from Hornchurch against a side a few divisions above us and with better match fitness as their season begins before ours. Second goal for them was unfortunate but well taken. Good performances from several Hx players tonight. Colchester had the edge but not by a great deal and their shooting was way off target in the first half. No critism of the players at all - well done Hx.
