Stansted Pull Out

Plans for our much anticipated double header with Stansted and Hitchin tomorrow. have been thrown into last minute chaos following a text message from the Essex Senior League Champions, that they will not be coming!

We were told somewhat discourteously by the Stansted manager that they would be too strong for us even though they were assured earlier that several of our Vase final team would be included.

Unfortunately therefore we must advise supporters there will now be only one game played against Hitchin which will kick-off at 4.00pm as scheduled.

if your wroxham's 1st team manager and you have 2 games 1 against stansted and 1 against hitchin town from the zameretto league which game would you put your 1st team squad out against ? obviously you would play against who played at the higher level ie hitchin town,as for stansted saying that as a club we would be to strong for them all lies i know for a fact that our manager did not say such a thing,pointless excercise in stansted playing wroxham's reserves as we where originally told it would be against their 1st team which was confirmed 6 weeks ago in writing,the coach alone would have set the club back approx £500 for the return trip,also just to confirm stansted rung wroxham and this fixture wasnt lol cancelled by text ha ha TOTAL B-----KS

It's a joke!We played Diss and Lowestoft in the last few seasons and they treated us like royalties and.....they played in the FA Vase finals and....they played their strongest 1st teams!Actually they asked some of our players if they fancied playing up there for £ 80-100 a week!What the hell they think they are?A Ryman Premier club?They are at Step 5 the same as Stansted and what they have done it's totally dis-respectful.Now I do hope we are gonna bring them down a peck or two...It's a declaration of war for me!

I must say I do not usually pass comment on this forum and am certainly not normally in the habit of agreeing with Coachie, however, in this case I think he has a point. Whilst I can understand Stansted's concern, pre-season games are for more than one purpose. And from what Darren is saying, the fact that Wroxham would play their first team against Hitchin is supposition.

Novice if your club has 2 pre-season home games on a saturday and one is against step 5 opposition and the other game is against step 4 opposition,you cant tell me that as manager of your 1st team you wouldnt put your strongest squad out to play against the higher opposition

Whilst I can understand Stansted's concern, pre-season games are for more than one purpose. And from what Darren is saying, the fact that Wroxham would play their first team against Hitchin is supposition.

 

Novice a few things to be clarified,

1. I think Coachie is actually sticking up for Stansted and not calling us "big time charlies" (I think he will clarify that)

2. Wroxham asked us for the friendly, then took it off their website once they had Hitchin put it back on and never advised us that there wuld be two games going on.

3. There manager said that there reserve would probably beat us 10-0 so we asked why they wanted to play us.

4. Terry and myself didnt think it would benefit us in the end travelling 2 and a half hours there and back to play what would have been a reserve team.

5. Hopefully we will draw them in the Vase at our place, so they can travelthe 2 and a half hours to thrash us with their first team.

I thought it was so clear that the dig was aimed at Wroxam FC for the way they conducted themselves.I reckon Terry has been too nice.....I wouldn't even had bothered telling them we were not coming!!!That's what that lot deserved for being totally out of order in lacking respect to Stansted FC and i'm telling you that.....I would loovee it,love it if Stansted knocks them out of the FA Vase!
