amersham v stfc

To be honest I thought the opposition were not much of a test today in my opinion, although you can only beat what is in front of you and we did that convincingly (did they have a shot on target the whole match?). Should have been 4-0 up at the break, let alone full-time. Will be a much tougher step-up in the next 2 games which will be much better for us.

Hopefully we will get a few players back as well as despite dominating the match we were missing 10 players for one reason or another today and we need to step-up the match fitness ahead of Barton Rovers and a huge game against Hitchin a week into the season which may turn out to be a vital match despite how early in the season the game is.

No offence top Amersham but they were pretty weak opposition but a job well done on a pitch that was rock hard and bobbly and a ball that resembled a beach ball.

With only two friendlies to play I would hope to see the full squad available for those two games.

Again, a small point but the Chesham match details says 3pm k.o when it should be 7.45.

decent performance though lots of chances wasted

most played well. Jean the Frenchman looked very useful and could turn out to be quite a strange signing if he really did just turn up to training. put some tackles in and had 2 or 3 shots including a goal of course.

as Reading said the pitch and ball weren't great at all

overall considering we had a lot missing the style we tried to play in was promising

What I don't understand is why so many of our players are missing two weeks before the season starts. They all know when training started and when the first game is so why are they not playing. Are they looking for other clubs. Are we going to have a mass exodus in the next week or so. Those missing don't appear to show a great deal of commitent. Can someone please explain.

Rebel Yeller the players missing have either been on holiday (I'm sure we'd prefer them to go on holiday during pre-season rather than during the season?) or have had prior engagements. Some were at a Wedding for the Amersham match. We need to remember these players are only part time and with the school holidays just starting many have young kids and can't pick and choose when to go away. Apart from Nathan all players will be available come the first match.
