Saturday 31st. July - Who's Where ?

Recommended Posts

Well, no-one died, so....

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm !

It was a good game. Nicely fast paced. I really thought Wickham were going to win it to begin with as they had such amazing pace and control. Chertsey completely shut them down after HT though and Wickham just couldn't get the same breaks happening...

Was a good team of officials (I am biased, of course...) and I think pretty much everyone shook our hands afterwards which tends to be a good sign.

One Chertsey player (#3, I think) 'ordered to be subbed' as he was getting too feisty and the bench was happy with that as they had seen it too!

I hope you counted your fingers afterwards !!!!

Did Chertski give your lot a short-term loan then, Smudgie ?? I bet the interest is around 300% !!

Chertsey Town 4 - 1 Wycombe Wanderers XI

A Young Wycombe outplayed Chertsey for much of the first half. 1-1 at half time. Chertsey a different team after the break, and deservedly scored three in the 2nd Half. Decent Crowd, good pitch and great football from both teams. Roll on next Saturday

GOOD RESULT CHERTSEY FAN ! TAKE IT WYCOMBE BROUGHT THEIR YOUTH/ACADEMY TEAM TO PLAY ?

WYCOMBE'S 1ST TEAM WERE AT FARNBORO BEATING 'THE BORO' 4-2

I WAS COMING TO WATCH THE GAME BUT COULDN'T MAKE DUE TO PERSONAL COMMITMENTS. IT SEEMS I MISSED A GOOD GAME, I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO IT AS WELL NEVER MIND, WHO SCORED THE GOALS CFf?

Jack Paterson (CTFC 1st Team Coach) has a connection with Gary Waddock and Richard Dobson (Youth manager). Also has connections with Brentford and Reading. Our new centre back Simon Cox has just been released by Reading.

CURFEW, NEW CENTRE BACK SIMON COX FROM READING, TOM O'REGAN FROM WYCOMBE BOTH TO CHERTSEY IN THE CCL ..........STRANGE ?

WITH THE ARRIVAL OF THIS NEW CENTRE BACK AND JACK FRANCIS, I ASSUME BOSWELL HAS BEEN LEFT OUT OR IS PLAYING RIGHT BACK WHERE I HAVE SEEN HIM PLAY BEFORE OR HAS HE INFACT BEEN BOMBED OUT LIKE MANY, MANY OTHERS ? - HE'S A DECENT PLAYER

WHILST I CREDIT CHERTSEY IN GETTING THESE TYPE OF CALIBRE PLAYERS TO THE CCL, QUESTIONS HAVE TO BE ASKED ON HOW CHERTSEY HAVE ACHIEVED THIS ? BUT FOR ME, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, WHAT ''AMBITION'' DO THESE PLAYERS HAVE ? SURELY ARRIVING FROM A PRO CLUB, THEY ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY AT A HIGHER LEVEL/STANDARD STARTING OFF AT RYMANS ?

Nice Guy,surely with all your knowledge of Non League Football, you know that Promotion can only be acheived with higher class players, than the level you are playing at.The A,F.C. Wombles showed how it is done,Farnborough and Croydon Athletic are doing the same.Players like Pommers etc have had their chance and failed.Time for a new Strategy, therefore better players.

I wouldn't have classed 30+ goals in last 4 seasons for Chertsey as failure Smudgie

SMUDGE, YES I AGREE WITH YOUR COMMENTS REGARDING PROMOTION, HIGHER CLASS PLAYERS, HIGHER CLASS BUDGET ! BUT WHAT I AM CONCERNED WITH IS THE ACTUAL PLAYERS THOUGHTS OF ''AMBITION'' WHEN CLEARLY THEY ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY AT A HIGHER LEVEL ? OBVIOUSLY IT'S MONEY AHEAD OF AMBITION ? PERHAPS I;M OLD FASHIONED IN THAT WAY............. !

.

LIGHTENING, I THINK WHAT SMUDGE IS TRYING TO SAY THAT POMMERS HAS HAD HIS TIME WITH CHERTSEY, PAID WELL FOR HIS SERVICES BUT NEVER GOT PROMOTED ? WOULD YOU LIKE TO CLARIFY THAT SMUDGE ?

Nor would I really, but any time Chertsey were mentioned it was Pomeroy who got the Praise, like Holden at Mole Valley, teams win Titles not individuals.Would they be as effective higher I think not, could use Agyei,Lock as an example prolific in C.C.L. but not in Ryman.

Molesey played Epsom &Ewell in the Dave Wilson Trophy, winning thus retaining the trophy.Played at the old decca racal ground(tolworth)

MOLESKIN, WELL DONE IN RETAINING THE DAVE WILSON TROPHY YESTERDAY, I ATTENDED THE COMPETITION LAST SEASON AND ENJOYED WATCHING SOME NICE FOOTBALL BUT COULDN'T GO TO ANY MATCHES YESTERDAY DUE TO PERSONAL COMMITTMENTS. WHAT WAS THE SCORE AND WHO SCORED ?

MOLESKIN + E&E SUPPORTER, WAS IT A GOOD GAME ?

Nice Guy,yes Clubs suss out players at this level, stop Pomeroy you stop Chertsey. He has been a good servant to Chertsey, probably their highest paid player as well. Now replaced by O'Regan, yes they lack ambition, but in young players eyes nowadays there is no planning for the future,it's all about the immediate.Life is all about money now,not loyalty.Different era I'm Afraid.Bar yesterday at Whitstable was empty 45 mins after the game had finished, people just pay as least as they can to watch, many even came just after the gates were unmanned so as to pay nothing. How the game survives I do not know.

Far side... in the shade!

Thought so, there was an old boy on clubhouse side. Incident with Chertsey #3 must have been right in front of you, couldnt see from our side what went on?

It was all a bit of a maul but the #3 took it to excessive levels. Hence it was politely requested that he was immediately subbed!

This is one I can't really answer.  If I'm acting as Assistant I'm not going to comment on what I would have done, as it can potentially undermine the authority of the Referee.  I also can't comment on what the Ref would have done in a season game as it's his decision on whether to communicate that one or not.

Hope that one makes sense and in no way do I want to appear awkward:  I can comment all day long on decisions that I personally made (offside, signalling for misconduct in front of me....) !

Watched the second half of Sheerwater saturday. They beat Pyrford comfortably 5-0.

Being a Woking fan, it was interesting to see former player Phil Parsons as Pyrfords' player manager.

Good old fashioned punch up late in the game. 22 man brawl plus substitutes with fists flying everywhere. Referee kept everyone on the pitch, gave the captains a telling off and no further trouble.

I am sure they said it was a 'friendly' though!!!

NICE GUY,Danny Bromfield scored the only goal of the game for Molesey.

OUR side was a bit mix & match as I expect was Epsom & Ewell's.

Some decent football played.

Are you coming to Molesey on tuesday, playing Walton Casuals(mick burgess trophy)7.30.k.o.
