Saturday 31st. July - Who's Where ?

Recommended Posts

No game for DFC today, and the Gaffer and me fancied a trip out.

Who's where ? Are Banstead playing at home ? They are close enough for the Gaffer not to get lost.

Jack Paterson (CTFC 1st Team Coach) has a connection with Gary Waddock and Richard Dobson (Youth manager). Also has connections with Brentford and Reading. Our new centre back Simon Cox has just been released by Reading.

Newport Isle Of Wight 6 Knaphill 0

Believe it or not Knaphill played well for long periods but without any success in front of goal. Decent side Newport, nice people, lovely stadium and great hospitality, bloody long way home though!

Chertsey Town 4 - 1 Wycombe Wanderers XI

A Young Wycombe outplayed Chertsey for much of the first half. 1-1 at half time. Chertsey a different team after the break, and deservedly scored three in the 2nd Half. Decent Crowd, good pitch and great football from both teams. Roll on next Saturday

Westfield (Sussex) 0 Westfield (Surrey) 1

Viginia Water 1 Feltham 2

I saw Chobham beat Intermediate side Merrow 4-0. The scoreline flattered them, they were a little bit fitter but for large parts of the game were under pressure. They even had two players asked to leave the field and not return. One for a stamp on a player and the second was a defender who called the referee a c@%t. Lucky not to have another go after an off the ball incident two minutes after coming on as a sub!

Chobham do have a couple of decent players but I think they'll still struggle again this season.

And how did our posting assistant referee do ?

I was going to do the M.25 trip to Chertski, but we opted for the nearer Bookham.

Shooting practice as the Kent Div 1 or 2 side? we're 2-0 down early on. Leatherhead on Tuesday night, might be a tougher test!!!

Well, no-one died, so....

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm !

It was a good game. Nicely fast paced. I really thought Wickham were going to win it to begin with as they had such amazing pace and control. Chertsey completely shut them down after HT though and Wickham just couldn't get the same breaks happening...

Was a good team of officials (I am biased, of course...) and I think pretty much everyone shook our hands afterwards which tends to be a good sign.

One Chertsey player (#3, I think) 'ordered to be subbed' as he was getting too feisty and the bench was happy with that as they had seen it too!
