Conference North and South

Hi Laz.

As you're in the mood [impressed by the 1st, by the way], and as it shouldn't take a couple of ticks, could you do a quick sheet-spread thing with last season's average home gates of all of the clubs in the two new divisions, an average of each, and an average of the Ryamn Premier League for comparison purposes.

It may take a little longer but the average number of travelling fans to away games on the same basis would be very helpful.

I would ask the chap who used to drive the red tractor but he's busy on Friday afternoons.

MAD, EFM don't run.

AFF, I'd love to help you out there but there are two problems...

Firstly, I assume you are trying to calculate travelling support by comparing home gates and comparing the differences. You'd need to consider milage, current performance of the club, the weather, the day of the match, and numberous other factors. I think someone like yourself would have more time to devote to this.

Secondly, where do I get the data from?

i think we are in the frame Laz.. we have a potentially devastating squad.. but years of experience lend me to thinking that a gravesend type team will fk us over or we will lose he first 5 games..

unless of course you meant we will be still in the ryman next season, in which case i doff my cap at some quality 'dissing'

albans

bedford

hornchurch

kettering

k's

purfleet

sutton

hendon..

mm maybe im getting a bit stir crazy in this league..

farnborough had loads of dough and it was only our second season up plus the ludicrous fixture congestion

G and N did really well with andy ford motivating at the very top of his game.. (this was the season i really thought we'd make it with the trophy winning squad)

aldershot where always gonna go one year and after the changes at canvey from the previous seasons squad ,it took us too long to get into gear and put on the pressure that everyone knows can cause problems at the rec..

both farnbourough and the fleet look set to struggle in the conf this season.. aldershot will do well..

this season things look good for the gulls, the squad is pretty solid throughout and the midfield of minton, gooden and kennedy plus a.n.other will be good to watch.. never had trouble scoring goals so its all about the defence.. i can see a lot more 442 at away games rather than the 352 of last season.. theobald and the recovered from injury cowan could be the centre backs to stop us shipping in 2 goals a game

Details, Laz, details.

You know me. I'm not one of those who encourage the signing of J F Hasslebaink regardless of whether current levels of income justify such a step. I was simply looking at the financial implications. If you can't help, that's fine. No problem.

I'll have a word with the chap who used to drive the red tractor.

If we do end up in the northern half of the cut then the maths is irrelevant. Most of the those clubs only get about 200. We can assume they only take 20 away and of those 20, 0 will probably want to come down south. Of those 0, 0 can affort to but a drink down here, etc, etc.

Total away support from northern teams = 0, plus 50 or so from both Kettering and Bedford.

So how does that affect our playing budget. (Please substract a small amount for additional team traveling to away matches.)

a lot of ryman clubs alwats seem to lose 4 plus players for no reason after 15 games.. you were flying last season but look at the team you started with to what you ended up with, no wonder the form dropped of.. sure the players may have been as good but you need that 'team' thing to get out of this league exactly what the fleet and the shots had,, im not saying canvey dont have that , i think we do, especially after last seasons fight back..

Sorry for returning to the point of the thread, you two, but, I've been thinking.

Laz's hypothysis is based on all clubs finishing in their respective leagues as forecast on Superbet.

I presume that Braintree is south of us so for Saints to 'move' into the ConDivSarf for geographical reasons , it would need two clubs currently north of St Albans to come into the reckoning. From the Ryman, that's only Aylesbury or Hitchin. What about the other Leagues?

You presume wrongly: it's further north.

A team from Div 1 North (not South obviously) could also qualify as champions. Arlesey, Hemel, Chesham...

More likely is that the midland teams not expected to make it in the Dr Martins help us out.

Whatever, it's still cutting it a bit fine.

What if Braintree don't make it, but say, Harrow do?

Could be a possibility that the Welsh clubs in the Doc Martens, Newport and Merthyr may have to play in the Northern section.

Worcester would probably play in the North but it all depends on who comes down from the Conference.
