Mo Sharif on trial at QPR?

Yes ..its true...heard he has signed forms for QPR , I am for one bitterly disapointed !

After all what we had done for him in the youth team ..I beleive he was got at after an introduction by someone (allergerly another ex slough player) not elliott !

who jumped in and acted for him ! so taking him from under our noses ! If true I am sad....but time will only tell...or he will become another victim of the profestional game

whereby they keep them in the reserves and they get realease after a few seasons...

Anyhow we have another good player in Tony Mendy ...and a few others (like Ross Breen) lets hope we look after them ...and they develop in a Slough Shirt !...

That's a big shame as I understand we were desperately trying to get Mo on contact at the end of last season. However QPR is a big club, and you can't really blame Mo too much for wanting a shot at the big time. I for one wish him luck, just a shame we'll get nothing out of his move.

So did we offer MO a contract and if so did he decline to sign one?

Really surprised you seem to have missed a trick there, if he was as talented as some people have been saying and he has been playing in the first team ? that he was not put on contract, judging by the lack of reply im presuming someone slipped up. Burnham have a youth player on contract ( Jordan Dowdican) which a lot of people seem to think he is destined to play at a much higher level so they have him on a contract, what have you got to lose ? Cant blame the player for signing for QPR at all.

No, I don't blame him for signing for any professional club. Not quite sure how you can force someone to sign a contract Windsorian. No player is under an obligation to sign. I'm very confident the club would have tried hard to get him on contract.

As for the player himself, I'm actually quite disappointed he didn't play more last season. The boy has bags of natural ability and potential and most people knew he'd be off at some stage. You can't ask much more than to sign for a Championship club (if indeed he has). But yes, a shame Slough will not get anything out of the deal, it does seem very unfair.

That's something only a club official will be able to answer. All I know is we were trying to get him on contract, if there was one ever put in front of him I don't know.

So really those people on here saying that one was offered and he declined it are not in a position to say that when there might have been other factors involved.

I would say that if he is playing for the QPR U18's then chances are he couldn't at he time be put on a contract anyway.

The FA Rules & Regulations (2009) state:-

C. RULES RELATING TO PLAYERS

Players with Written Contracts

1 (a) Minimum Age

(i) A Player under 18 years of age and in receipt of full-time education may not enter into a contract of employment with a Club in membership of The Association and/or an Affi liated Association.

(ii) A Player under 17 years of age may not enter into a contract of employment with a Club in membership with The Association and/or an Affi liated Association, except under a Scholarship as provided for by Rule C3.

The point is and why we should all be disapointed in Non League football - is that young players which are brought up within our club can be cherry picked

from us ! without the orginal club getting any reward for his development - The football league clubs can as Mal stats put them on schoalships and have many

ways to get these boys ...into their teams ..even promising their Parents of great things for they children.....again the grass roots of our game get nothing !

this is my gripe , nothing to do with the betterment of the player ...who of course we wish well and hope he makes it....Slough will never stand in the way

of this ever.... good luck to Mo....and best wishes to him...

  • 2 weeks later...

So, it appears Mo has signed a one-year deal at QPR. Slough don't get any financial reward, but will get a "strong" QPR team visiting for a friendly at some point in the future. Probably as good as we could have hoped for!
