Great Wakering 0 Billericay 3

Well, when was the last time we all could say we all enjoyed two consecutive away games on the trot? A convincing victory for "The Blues" where we dominated in all areas. We basically put out two teams with the majority of the "in game" subsitutions being made in the second half and those were really to give our young lads a run out. All the players played their part and played well and on last nights showing, it'll be a difficult job for Craig to make his final choice if all the players play up to the standard they showed last night. As there was no team sheet available, most of the newcomers are still "mystery men" but for me that is no bad thing as once I start putting names to faces, I start fretting about who's going to stay and who isn't. There is still some way to go.

The goals were scored by Charge and Cleaver. Charge's first goal was a stunner. He turned the defender and from the edge of the box, bent the ball around the defender to put the ball in the net. The goal basically came from nowhere and I think most of us thought it was going out. His other goal was a one on one with the keeper. He showed a cool head to score. Cleaver's goal was a really a tap in but credit to him for being in the right place at the right time.

I can't remember a time when we had so many quality players showing up for a pre season. There was movement, good skills on the ground and we played like "The Blues" of old...passing on the ground. It is too early to call but last nights game was probably more enjoyable to watch than most of last seasons "fare". But, one game at a time. Second game into our pre season and I think we should take it game by game and watch with interest and fasination as our squad and team are esembled.

And our "away" support, considering it ws a pre season friendly, held up and we were well represented off the pitch. Well done to everyone....

(PS - a quality tackle in the second half by our left back...can we have him playing against Tonbridge please. If he made a similer tackle against them, the howl's coming from their bench will be a joy to endure....It was fair, it was hard and he won the ball)

Played some nice football in attack, solid at the back. Couldn't ask for anything more at this stage really. Charge took his goals well, one a curling effort from just inside the area, the second rounding the keeper after a defence splitting pass from Alex Fiddes. Good to see Jacob get on the scoresheet as well after good work from one of the triallists whose name I didn't get. Good to see lots of good crosses going into the box from wide areas, whoever plays up front this season should be able to count on better service than last year.

Not one to get too carried away by pre-season results (wins or losses), but it has to be said it was a very encouraging performance. Wakering are only one division below us and we completely dominated every area of the field.

Come on you Blues!!
