Raising money for STFC

As Kay has taken over the sponsored walk mantel in our house (Worthing was far enough for me!) I’ve been giving thought to other ways of raising awareness and sponsorship for the club/charity.

So I’ve picked the furthest away game we’ll play each month and will be cycling to those matches - nine individual rides from August to April totalling 524 miles for the season!! Or maybe I just misunderstood Kay when she told me to "get on my bike"??!! :)

By coincidence the shortest journey is the very first one – our August trip to Hitchin (38 miles) which is then followed in September and October by the furthest two – Atherstone Town (100 miles) and Soham Town Rangers (87 miles). All journeys will be done in one go with the trip to Atherstone requiring a 4:00am start to stand a chance of making it for the start of the game!!

I will be raising funds for a combination of the Slough Town Supporters Trust and also a fantastic charity I’m involved with, Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.

The 524 miles will be made of journeys to:

August – Hitchin Town

September – AtherstoneTown

October – Soham Town Rangers

November – Aylesbury

December – Barton Rovers

January – Daventry Town

February – Woodford United

March – Rugby Town

April – Leighton Town

If you feel like sponsoring me you can do so by talking to me or one of the STST Committee on match days. I'll also be raising a Just Giving site specifically for donations to Make-A-Wish.

I will post more about each journey as and when they get closer. Wish me luck!!!!

Thanks very much - nicest thing you've ever said to me!! Yes, Aylesbury is shorter. My mistake - 28 miles. Hardly worth putting the lycra on for!!!

I'm sure I must have whispered a few sweet words at you when we stayed in the honeymoon suite in Findon!

Yes, I remember those sweet nothings you whispered. They went something like..........."how bad are the blisters on my feet?"
