With the greatest respect, LMU, simply because you have not heard of the alternative spellings does not mean they are incorrect.

 

All three spellings appear in the Concise Oxford Dictionary.

 

By the way, there is also no such language as British. While I'm at it, English is a Germanic language, really only an evolution of German (ie Old English) with bits of Norse and Norman French thrown in for good measure.
