Bedfont Sports v Chertsey town 13th July

It would be interesting to know how many teams in the CCL (Prem) don't have a budget, if any? Can anyone throw any light on this?

A fella at Raynes Park Vale said they don't pay a penny which is believable. They'd like to apply for a grant to do their ground up but you need a long lease and their landlord won't give them one. Fair play to the club for managing to sustain football at this level.

Locally I've heard Sandhurst don't have much of a budget. One of their players (ex?) told me they may get some expenses every now and then but it's not guaranteed. If that's true, and I've no reason to doubt it, then you have to give them (and of course Unders) credit for finishing as high up as they did last season.

The good thing about individuals paying their own money at this level is that if they get bored or the money dries up, it's not much of a problem - the club can still continue. It's when you're at Ryman Premier level and above that you really don't want an individual funding the team. As far as I know, Camberley is run as a sustainable business. I know some people who thought they'd retired are now doing more hours than ever done the club - unpaid of course. Our bar manager has never worked so hard in his life making sure the clubhouse is utilised as much as possible to generate the money to keep the football side going.

The main thing is that clubs are paying their taxes and other bills. It's when clubs don't bother paying HMRC but manage to pay their players top money that annoys me. AFAIK we don't have that sort of thing in CCL land.

Thanks VP. Just to clear up, there have been occasions in the past when Sandhurst have paid minimal fuel expenses to certain players at certain times but can categorically state that is not a route we go down any more and there is not one player earning a penny now. There are 1 or 2 local managers who try to stir up trouble by tapping up our players and trying to unsettle them by telling them that other players in the squad are earning money but thankfully this has not worked and in fact several players have turned down money this summer from rival CCL clubs, preferring to stay with us and wait for a move upwards rather than sideways. For this they deserve tremendous credit in my opinion. We do miss out on some good players due to our lack of money but the good thing is I know those who join are always doing so for the right reasons.

Well Badshot and Egham are both big spenders this preseason and have heard that direct and good on them as I said before. Camberley were up there and one of their honest members thought that they would be lowering this season but I hear they have signed a number of Badshot players and they won't be cheap so maybe they have upped it again. NG were way over 750 as their manager told me although 'one' player took a huge chunk. As I said before it is good that teams in this League have funds from owners. Hopefully it provides better football standards-the problem is that I am willing to bet that no side with a budget less than 800 will win this division hence if you want promotion then you have to pay

CT NGU'S ''ONE'' PLAYER WAS DAVE LAWRENCE !

YOU MIGHT HAVE A POINT CT ABOUT THE MINIMUM BUDGET OF £800 A-WEEK BUT YOU MAYBE WRONG AS I DONT THINK THAT MANY CLUBS CAN AFFORD THAT AMOUNT ?

Just a question to those ITK - where did Dorking Wanderers get all their dough from... Rumour i heard last night that one of their players got an 8K signing on fee !

Dorking Wanderers have just signed a sponsorship deal with a local company called Ambient Electrical.

According to the Dorking Advertiser, it's worth 'a huge five figure sum' over the next three seasons.

I could name you a lot of clubs at Step 4 with smaller budgets.

good point VP how does this money appear on accounts or is it just paid as a gift I think it would be hard to justify 100 pounds every week as exspenses

Duncs you would be amazed at what can be swallowed up as expenses...Petrol or car allowance, entrance into grounds, let alone the phone bills, entertainment etc, etc, so it would be easy to wash away a onner..

P.s ...hows things..R u missing it yet?

Not yet Smudgey. First one next week. As for Pre Season refs do try and keep their cards in their pockets except for Violent conduct.

Hope to catch up for a beer or two over the season.

Carshalton had a player carded in our friendly against them on Tuesday. Centre back he was and he was getting a bit, erm, frustrated.

I'm sure if our game at Sheerwater had been a competitive match the ref would have carded loads of players. The officials got so much grief and there were some dodgy tackles put in. It was a typical CCL game.

Pearcy - you seemed so upset at the penalty decision last Saturday, I think the referee felt sorry for you.

I presume that my midfieder who took the pen was also in a compassionate mood, 'cos he bailed you out with a penalty my dear old nan would have been disappointed with.

Good luck for the season!
