Barking had their moments against Brentwood, but all in all it was a pretty routine win for the Ryman side. They didn't score until the last half an hour, but they had dominated posession before that without creating any clear opportunities. Joe Turner looked very sharp for Barking and given the right service he'll score lots of goals for them this season, but there is work to do if they're going to get off to a good start next week.

Two results from Saturday.

Barking 3 Thurrock 1

Eton Manor 3 Waltham Forest 1

I personally watched Eton Manor beat Waltham Forest 3-1, and were the better team pretty much throughout. Worrying times with my Waltham Forest hat on, slightly more optomistic from an Eton Manor view point, who seem to have kept most of last season's team together except for the back 4 where they needed to make big changes and I only recognised one of the 4 defenders that played on Saturday. Their striker Courtney Linton is going to be one to watch this season.

Ah and I forgot on tuesday Hullbridge Sports-Maldon 4-0

Maldon were brushed away by a strong Hullbridge first XI in the 1st half and when the time was clocking 28 minutes Bridge were 3-0 up with goals from Ringer,Paterson and Strachan.Even Hullbridge 2nd XI managed to win the 2nd half 1-0 with a goal from Chris Brown against an embarassed Maldon team.Full time score 4-0 to Sports.A few of Bridge new signings and first team players were not even involved in the rout.

That's a great result Coachie. I think Hullbrdige will surprise a few people this year. The ESL sides have in general had some really good pre-season results against Ryman One sides..... I honestly think the gap between the bottom half of Ryman One (who don't have big budgets) and the majority of the ESL (which has no dummy teams in it anymore) is pretty nominal.

Thanks FCFAN and we don't get carried away.Lot of work to do and new signings are fitting in well with the squad from last year. Also we added 44 goals to our goalscoring force from last season which should give a big boost.Unlucky not to draw against a good Brentwood side that will be in and around play-offs in Rym 1 North.Looking good mate.wink.gif

A fit & focused Wes Bocking would be an excellent addition to any ESL side

Congrats Coachie if you have managed to snaffle him
