Bletchley Town

Recommended Posts

Cain of Bletchley Town - Yes but after the hard fought draw at Kent Athletic last week and the three impressive wins against MK Wanderers, Winslow United and Caddington I had you down for a stone wall away win this afternoon, Mursley United lost at home to Totternhoe last week, Padbury United the week before and also failed to show up to a cup game at Daventry United because they couldn't raise a team

a report from TK forum...........

Bletchley Town 0-1 Mursley United

Spartan South Midlands 2nd Division

Admission: n/a

Programme: n/a

Tea: n/a

Attendance: ~20

I'd chosen this on the basis of last seasons equivalent being a particularly entertaining game. This wasn't. Plenty of chances from about 10-25 minutes in, but the rest was largely a non-event. The goal came just after the half hour and on balance Mursley deserved it.

The ground itself is a work in progress and good luck to them in getting it back up to scratch over the next few years. The Irish Centre is next to the ground, a decent bar upstairs, though not obvious where the way in is.

A terraced stand runs down one side behind the only rail in the ground. Four good sized step under cover, or at least would once have been. No roof, though the supports are still in place and look sound. A lot of waste and materials behind it. Opposite are two wooden dugouts and a smaller stand, presumably once seated, though only one appears. Again no roof. A large slope at one end, just a little grass at the other. Floodlights still standing, but some control boxes are hanging loose as are the speakers.

Cricket and rugby clubs are in the same area, and both have the look of being a bit run down. A shame as this could be a decent facility.

Of course Ref off Ref you'll have noticed this little snipe from Rhodes. Doesn't it amuse you how he has to find a completely unrelated topic to construct a post around having a dig at Padbury? Doesn't it just say ot all about the pathetic creature he is?

you have very good contacts mate how did this one get out lol go easy on wanderers

Yeah I've been around and back a few times. Could be really good maybe bring back the days of FA cup ties against the likes of Leyton Orient back down at Ford Meadow. But will it be UCL or SSML? You'll not be short of support if it takes off. Our season defining week next. You in the semi then Totternhoe followed by Risboro....make or break and with a few key players injured and suspended the squad will be tested to it's limit.

Personally, having played in both UCL and SSML - I think the SSML is better.

Some of the travel in UCL is ridiculous.....Boston is a 180 mile round trip from Milton Keynes, Holbeach is in Linconshire too.

Also I think the type of football played is better in the SSML. UCL teams tend to focus on strength and longer ball football whereas SSML is quicker with more football on the ground.

These are only my opinions though.

Same here agree with that. UCL having only two divs and not as much quality overall is possibly an easier league to get out of it into Southern League though. Travel in UCL is crazy can't understand why not have 3 divs and regionalise it!!

No4 - I go along with this, I remember when Kentish Town met Wellingborough Town in the FA Cup in 2008/2009 and took them to a replay at their Dog and Duck home, Kentish Town were by far the better side in both ties but were pretty much overpowered by a far more physical side who kicked everything that moved and made the old Wimbledon and Sheffield Wednesday look like Arsenal with their long ball tactics. Unfortunately the game at Wellingborough was infamous for the unsavory incident at the end involving a Kentish Town player and Clement Temile, as I'm sure everyone recalls.

Is that when Clement displayed his "Rhodes is God" tee-shirt and the player threw mud in his eye?

What's happened to Bletchley Town, they can do no wrong at the moment

Dont be fooled by their advancement in the challenge trophy. Both Royston and Dunstable both put out largely reserve team sides in their defeats to Bletchley with obvious other priorities in mind

The Watchfull Listener - Yes but even Royston's Reserves should have been more than capable of beating Bletchley Town, I expect Paul Attfield was fuming as he hates to lose a game of tiddlywinks let alone football
