Actually, fk that.

I'm not having some kid come on here and try to tell ME about the Stone Roses. That was my era, mate. I WAS THERE.

The Stone Roses had it all. The image. The songs. They had the world. What the fk would you know about Madchester??

They had b-sides that would piss all over anything any that Rage Against The Machine or any of your crap bands could manage.

One good album? They only made two for fks sake. And their not-so-good album pisses over anything by any of the crap you lot like.

How dare any of you come on here and criticise a band that were the biggest band from the biggest movement in this country when you were FOUR YEARS OLD.

Piss off and listen to your Nickelback and Blink 182.

I think Colin has got a little bee in his bonnet here. To dismiss RATM in the way he did is a little ignorant and arrogant. So perhaps SUM 41 and blink 182 tried to copy them, that doesn't affect the music of RATM. I once heard some crappy boy band say they were influenced by the Beatles, and obviously this is no reflection on the music of the Beatles.

Zeal - I generally agree with you on music, but I think your refusal to even acknowledge certain genres is somewhat blinkered sometimes. I had friends at university who used to dismiss the Beatles in exactly the same way that you dismiss RATM, its pointless.

Blinkered, my [****!!****].

Listen.

I have listened to, appreciated, and know more about music than any of you kids who come spouting off on here.

Me ignorant? Jeez, you kids don't know you're born.

Libro - sorry for my last post, but all you did was a) misquote me, and then B) proceed to sit on the fence and try some kind of gay mediation between me and GHA.

Fk that. I know I'm right.

Arrogant? Maybe.

Ignorant? Absoultely not.

Okay, maybe ignorant was perhaps not the right word. But I know people who would use exactly the same defences as you when supporting RATM and slagging of the Beatles. You made it sound as though your opinion was definitive, and you were the only one who could make a judgement about music. I just thought that the dismissal of RATM as music for kids who want to rebel (or however you put it) was a very poor argument. I also get the feeling that a large part of your disliking for RATM may be because of their political associations (correct me If I'm wrong) and I don't think thats a good reason to slag off their music

What a load of crap. The Stone Roses had a song on their first album called Elizabeth My Dear which was anti-Queen, and as you know I'm pro-monarchy, so your suggestion I dislike bands because of their views in simply laughable.

Do you want to stop trying to tell me about Rage then?

1. I own the first Rage album.

2. The album came out when I was 18, so along with The Stone Roses, RATM are my era too.

3. RATM are not fit to be compared to The Stone Roses, let alone the Beatles.

4. They're crap. And for kids.

I don't particularly like RATM but I can see they bear no comparison to SUM 41, Blink 182 etc. just as much as some of the crap indie bands from the mid 90's don't bear comparison to the Stone Roses or Oasis.

Maybe this sounds very woolly, but I can appreciate that RATM do what they do well, and that they are clearly very passionate about their music. It still feels to me as though you want to slag them off because of what they're associated with, rather than because of their music (have you heard their other albums?) I'm sure you'll tell me I'm wrong though
