Are they in the ESL or not?

Anyone know the definitive answer yet?

Cheers.

Well its there or nowhere!!! but if the groundshare wasn't good enough for the Ryman, what makes it ok for the ESL?Do we really need another side looking simply to pay their way out. They must have a reasonable budget as they wer planning for step3.I thought we'd had the last of this.

The compilation of the fixtures will begin once the Isthmian League fixtures are announced which, I believe, is this coming Thursday.

With a bit of luck we should be seeing the fixtures before the season starts.3 or 4 days notice would be really good.

Poor old Len!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say you've got to feel for Len. I thought the fixtures were a bit of a mess last season, but when you look at the kind of cr*p he has to put up with before he can knuckle down and produce the ESL fixtures, it's hardly suprising. I'm sure he'll do his best to get the ESL fixture out asap once these idiots at the FA have decided what they're doing with Grays.

I had been told Thursday by Grays Athletic but I've just read on the Isthmian Fans Forum that it's now Friday!

As a few people have intimated in this thread, I hope people will show some patience towards Len as he will basically only have three weeks between knowing the Isthmian fixtures and the first ESL games being played.

Statement by the ryman league regarding grays ath,i personally think they are heading our way and will play in the esl this season.

The Ryman League have issued the following statement with regard to Grays Athletic and their position in the non-League Pyramid for 2010/11.

"Last month an Appeal Board of the FA recommended that this club be placed at Step 3 of the National League System and the Ryman League was the most geographically appropriate league.

“As a result the member clubs of the league at their recent AGM were forced to consider and pass two emergency Special Resolutions to enable the number of clubs in the league to be increased.

"Grays Athletic had indicated that it had a ground share agreement with East Thurrock United FC, despite assurances to the contrary by the East Thurrock representative at the AGM.

"The league has been unable to approve a ground share at East Thurrock United FC for Grays Athletic and the conclusion has been reached that Grays Athletic FC does not meet the criteria for membership of the league. A statement has been issued by the FA saying that 'It is very apparent that Grays Athletic FC does not meet the entry requirements for the Isthmian League and will not be able to compete at Step 3 for season 2010/11'.

"Accordingly this league, which has not been able to set fixtures for the new season so far, will now proceed to arrange a fixture list for its sixty-six clubs with the original twenty-two clubs allocated to the Premier Division by the Football Association."

They are claiming that they have a groundshare Agreement in place and apparantly have all the documents to prove it,word on the street is that they are preparing another appeal and if this happens the league fixtures could be delayed another couple of weeks

I'm going to have a rant now..... but the FA could avoid this if the rules on these clubs who live beyond their means and then collapse financially were made clearer. If you withdraw a place in any league (as Grays did from Conference South) then you have to go right to the bottom and start at step 7 at the highest. No jumping straight into step 3 or indeed step 5. People say "oh well but the facilities at that level couldn't cope." Rubbish. Grays aren't going to take hoards of fans anywhere and if they do they'll just have to like it or lump it.

It would avoid all these situations. The North West Counties had the same with Chester City. It's ridiculous, if you withdraw from the pyramid the the highest you should be able to re-apply for is step 7. That'd teach some clubs to cut their cord more accordingly too.
